...DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKDT TODAY...

* WHAT...Dense smoke with visibility 1 mile or less.

* WHERE...Tanana Flats and along the Richardson Highway between
  Salcha and Birch Lake.

* WHEN...Until noon AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
  Dense smoke will have health affects on people with
  respiratory illness.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The dense smoke is expected to remain
  between Salcha and Birch Lake this morning. Northeast winds are
  expected to increase this afternoon and push the smoke southwest
  over the Tanana Flats and away from the Richardson Highway. The
  northeast winds are expected to continue through Saturday night
  and keep the smoke away from the Richardson Highway through
  Saturday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons with respiratory illnesses should remain indoors to avoid
inhaling smoke. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and
leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
