The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon to 10 PM AKDT Tuesday. * AFFECTED AREA...Upper Koyukuk Valley, Dalton Highway Summits and Yukon Flats. * TIMING...From noon to 10 PM AKDT Tuesday. * LIGHTNING ACTIVITY LEVEL...4. * WINDS...Southwest 5 mph or less. * HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the lower 80s. * IMPACTS...Frequent lightning can promote a few fire starts. Hot and dry conditions may lead to rapid spread of fires. Thunderstorms will come with heavy rain, frequent lightning and erratic wind. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous fires.
