...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM AKST THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Ward Lake near areas near the Ward Lake recreational area.
* WHEN...Until 900 PM AKST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 814 AM AKST, minor flooding continues, especially near
Ward Lake. In collaboration with dam operators at Ward Lake,
the Flood Advisory has been extended until 9 PM tonight.
Another round of rain expected to begin this morning, with
heavier rates this afternoon and additional rainfall of 1 to
2 inches possible through tonight.
- For Lake Connell Dam:
At 8:00am the stage was 251.2 feet.
Flood Stage is 252.0 feet.
Impacts:
At 251.0 feet: Water will begin to approach low lying areas
of trails and picnic areas around Ward Lake.
At 252.0 feet: 2 feet of water will be going over the
emergency spillway which will produce minor flooding of areas
around the Ward Lake recreation area with trails and Last
Chance campground being inundated.
