URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR HAINES MONDAY...

A weak, decaying low pressure will bring moisture up from the
south, generating snow showers for Haines, Lutak, Mud Bay, and the
Haines Highway continuing through Monday afternoon. Highest
uncertainty regarding this system is the depth of the moisture
profile, which will dictate heavier rates. As of 8am, Amounts have
ranged from 1 to 4 inches, with one report of 5 inches near
Chilkat State Park at 400 ft elevation. Snow showers expected to
continue through the afternoon with rates reaching 0.5 inches at
times in heavier showers.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4
  inches.

* WHERE...Haines, Lutak, and Mud Bay.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As of 8 am, 1 to 5 inches of snow has
  fallen across the area. Snowfall is expected to continue through
  Monday afternoon, heaviest snowfall rates are expected Monday
  morning, with rates possibly exceeding 0.5 inches per hour at
  times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

People are urged to prepare their property before the onset of
winter weather.
