...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...Portions of central and south central Virginia, including
  the following county and independent cities, in central Virginia,
  City of Colonial Heights. In south central Virginia, City of
  Petersburg and Prince George.

* WHEN...Until 1145 PM EDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding, especially in Old Town Petersburg,
  and portions of the city of Colonial Heights. Some low-water
  crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Local
  media have reported water rescues.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 535 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated that heavy rain due to thunderstorms has led to
    flooding across the area that will continue this evening.
    Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen earlier today.
    Additional rainfall is possible later this evening, though
    this remains uncertain.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Fort Gregg-Adams, Ettrick and
    Petersburg National Battlefield.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
