The areas affected include... Chesapeake Bay from Smith Point to Windmill Point VA... Chesapeake Bay from Windmill Point to New Point Comfort VA... Rappahannock River from Urbanna to Windmill Point... At 605 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Yeocomico River to 13 nm northwest of Irvington to 30 nm west of Urbanna Inlet, moving east at 20 knots. Locations impacted include... Smith Point, Stingray Point, Windmill Point, Occohannock Reef, Rappahannock Light, Irvington, Longs Creek Inlet, White Stone Bridge, San Marcos Wreck, Urbanna Inlet, Tangier Island, and Northern Neck Reef. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters.
