079 FNAK72 PAFC 181425 FWSALU Spot Forecast for Adak Tarballs...NOAA National Weather Service ANCHORAGE AK 625 AM AKDT Tue Aug 18 2026 Forecast is based on forecast start time of 0700 AKDT on August 18. .DISCUSSION... A slight chance of showers and winds gusting up to 25 kt are expected through early this morning as a low departs the area to the east. Low ceilings of 500 to 1000 ft are expected through Wednesday morning with periods of fog lowering visibilities to as low as 2 to 4 SM at times during the overnight and early morning hours through Wednesday. Winds out of the northwest diminish overnight tonight and become light by early Wednesday morning as high pressure moves over the area. Sweeper Cove will remain protected from marine swells in the northwesterly flow. High pressure shifting farther east Wednesday night into Thursday morning will provide favorable conditions for fog and visibilities potentially dropping to 1 SM or less. Please note: Both the Adak and Atka AWOS wx stations went down overnight, so the visibility forecast represents our best estimates. .TODAY...
