Spot Forecast for USCG Adak...USCG
National Weather Service ANCHORAGE AK
913 AM AKDT Tue Sep 15 2026

Forecast is based on forecast start time of 1000 AKDT on September 15.

.DISCUSSION...

There are still no current observations for Adak. Atka is
reporting, but lacking any information on ceilings or visibility,
making Shemya (400 miles away) the closest current observation
with the relevant observations. Therefore, be aware that this
forecast is being made with these limitations.

High pressure over the western Aleutians will move east through
this afternoon. Expect increasing clouds by later this morning as
a frontal system begins to move east toward Shemya and the far
western Aleutians. Even with the increasing clouds, VFR ceilings
and visibility is expected through late this afternoon with
ceilings initially around 8,000 ft this morning falling to around
4,000 ft by late afternoon. Ceilings will likely remain between
3,500 ft and 5,000 ft through late this evening before quickly
lowering to 1,500 and 2,500 ft by midnight AKDT as the front
approaches Adak and rain develops. Ceilings are expected to fall
to between 500 and 1,500 ft from midnight through 8 am AKDT
before rising back to MVFR through noon and VFR for Wednesday
afternoon as any lingering rain showers move east of the area and
diminish. Expect SW winds to increase this morning with sustained
winds 15 to 20 knots and gusts around 25 knots this afternoon
through Wednesday.
