Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake effect bands. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM Thursday to 1 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect snow band will set up across areas along and north of Route 28 late Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening before slowly dropping southward Thursday night into Friday morning. Additional upslope snow showers will continue on Friday before tapering off Friday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly.
