...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THURSDAY TO 1 AM EST
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
  of 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake effect bands. Winds
  gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Thursday to 1 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect snow band will set up across
  areas along and north of Route 28 late Thursday afternoon into
  Thursday evening before slowly dropping southward Thursday night
  into Friday morning. Additional upslope snow showers will continue
  on Friday before tapering off Friday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations
  of 7 or more inches possible in the most persistent lake effect
  bands. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Southern Herkimer County.

* WHEN...From Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect snow band is expected to drop
  southward into Southern Herkimer County Thursday night and set up
  either along or just south of the Thruway corridor on Friday. The
  lake effect band will gradually weaken and diminish late Friday
  night into Saturday morning.
