.KEY MESSAGES...

- Storm chances exist this afternoon/evening across the northern
combined Panhandles. Also, tomorrow mainly along and south of   HWY
60. Some storms may posed a severe potential for damaging   winds.

- Multiple days of triple digit temperatures are set to continue
through the 7 day forecast with very little relief in overnight
temperatures.

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Friday night)

Hot temperatures continue today into tomorrow. Tonight a shortwave
trough may brush the northwest bringing some precip chances to the
northwestern combined Panhandle, mainly impacting the north to
northwestern Panhandles. Primarily in the OK this evening. The main
threat with the 30 to 60 PoPs across the far northern Panhandles
will be damaging winds and lightning.

Tomorrow, a weak surface low is progged to set up over the combined
Panhandles introducing a surface boundary along the HWY 60 corridor.
This will focus a 30 to 40 PoPs along and south of HWY 60. The
timing of the storms to initiate is currently around 4pm to 9 pm.
Wide spread severe storms are not anticipated, but cannot be
completely rule out for damaging winds and localized heavy rainfall.
The timing of storms could potentially impact afternoon highs,
holding back from their max potential. Still, heat advisories will
be looked at as temperatures may still very well reach 105 for some
locations, especially in the southeast where higher dewpoints may
keep heat indices up to near 105. Going into the evening some
lingering showers and thunderstorms may exist in the southeastern TX
Panhandle. However, should see things quiet down around midnight
with overnight lows slightly cooler but still in the 70s for the
southeast TX Panhandle.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through next Wednesday)

High pressure will continue to dominate with high temperatures
reaching into the triple digits. Pretty much through the extended
period. The one caveat will be Saturday where some locations may be
held back near 99 for a high. This will be highly contingent on the
amount of rain that can be realized on Friday, as soil moisture
could locally hold back some isolated areas from full potential
heating. The extended period is looking dry outside of maybe
Cimarron getting clipped by some ridge riders. Each day will have to
be looked at closely for potential of may a 10 PoP at most, but it
is too far out to tell at this time for subtle details is moisture
and convective temperatures attempting to pop an isolated shower or
two.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1244 PM CDT Thu Jul 23 2026

VFR conditions are expected to prevail through the 18Z TAF period.
There is one exception for KGUY which has a Prob30 group starting
around 03Z. South to southwesterly winds around 12 kts may shift to
southeasterly after 03Z Fri, and pick up to 15 to 20 kts especially
for KAMA and KGUY.
