.DISCUSSION...
Warm and moist air continues to be advected into Northern MI and
the Eastern UP ahead of an elongated low stretching into the Upper
Midwest. Well above-normal high and low temperatures are expected
to hold until tomorrow night; Thursday begins a trend toward normal,
and Friday achieves near-normal temperatures (highs in the 40s, lows
near 30F). The Eastern UP is seeing rain showers today, and much of
the Northern LP and Eastern UP will see periods of rain tomorrow
night through Friday before things dry out for the weekend. Rain
totals will be low, largely below 0.5", for the late week time frame;
probabilities of rainfall greater than 0.6" between Wednesday
and Friday nights is 20-30% (not including today`s ongoing
precipitation in the Eastern UP). Correspondingly, minimum RH`s bottom
out at 70-80% for today through Friday, except for shoreline counties
along Lake Huron this afternoon, which could see minRh`s approach 50%
due to lack of cloud cover. Southerly 20ft sustained winds are
expected to remain less than 15 mph through Thursday, though gusts to
25 mph are possible at times as stability and (lack of) cloud cover
allows higher wind speeds to mix down. Winds veer to northerly
throughout Thursday night. Mixing heights lift from well below 1kft
to over 2kft tomorrow afternoon and remain between 2-3kft until
Friday night. Friday marks a pattern shift into drier and cooler
conditions with light winds.
