URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...MESSY WINTER SYSTEM TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING...

.A strong storm system will move into the area tonight, exiting the
area Wednesday. Several inches of wet, heavy snow is expected across
parts of the eastern UP, with a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing
rain from the Mackinac Bridge to approximately M-72, with a greater
potential for significant freezing rain accumulations from Roscommon
to Alpena and Harrisville, including some areas hard-hit by the
March 2025 Ice Storm.

...ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 PM EDT
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Total snow and sleet
  accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations between one
  tenth and four tenths of an inch. East to northeast winds gusting
  as high as 25-35mph tonight.

* WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan.

* WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 8 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice
  and gusty winds. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous
  conditions will impact the Wednesday morning commute...and could
  linger into the Wednesday evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is still potential for sleet to mix in.
  If more sleet mixes in than expected, ice accumulations will be
  less than current expectations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
Prepare for possible power outages.

Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your
electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways
and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.

  5 and 8 inches.

* WHERE...Western Chippewa County.

* WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 8 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may
  down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel
  could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the
  Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
