...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 4
  and 8 inches, with locally higher totals up to 12 inches possible
  through tonight. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will lead to
  blowing and drifting snow on Wednesday.

* WHERE...Antrim, Crawford, Kalkaska, and Otsego Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Travel will be difficult at
  times. The hazardous conditions will impact commutes through New
  Year`s Day.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Roads will be snow-covered and slippery. Be sure to travel at an
appropriate speed for the weather conditions.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
