...HEAT ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

Cloud cover this morning and relatively early onset of showers and
thunderstorms will help take the edge off the heat and humidity
today. Heat Index values will still top out in the lower 90s. More
relief is on the way for Monday, when high temperatures will fall
into the 70s.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 97.

* WHERE...In New York, Sullivan County. In Pennsylvania, Lackawanna,
  Luzerne, Northern Wayne, Pike, Southern Wayne, and Wyoming
  Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Relief is on the way for Monday, when high
  temperatures will fall into the 70s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
