NWS Birmingham proposes to discontinue the legacy Hazardous Weather
Outlook (HWO) text product on October 1st 2025.

The information contained in this product is often duplicated from
other methods of communication such as our graphics and text products
available on weather.gov/bmx, and on our social media channels. The
discontinuation of the Hazardous Weather Outlook text product is
intended to streamline products, reduce duplication, and focus on
more modern, user-friendly methods of messaging hazardous weather
information. The Graphical Hazardous Weather Outlook continues to be
a solid alternative to the text product, offering a visual display of
expected hazardous weather over the next 7 days. Actionable hazard
information will continue to be disseminated across NOAA Weather
Radio through watches, warnings, and advisories as appropriate.
