...River Statement For The Cahaba River...

.Recent heavy rainfall is producing rises on the Cahaba River.
However, levels are expected to remain below established flood
stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.


The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.
* At 8:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 11.1 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 36.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 16.0 feet early tomorrow
  afternoon. It will then fall to 14.7 feet Friday morning. It will
  rise to 16.0 feet early Saturday morning. It will then fall again
  and remain below flood stage.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins and
  cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture lands
  increases at stages above 20 feet.


Another statement will be issued by Thursday evening, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
