.SHORT TERM /Through Monday Night/...

Southwest flow aloft continues over the area with hot, dry and
smoky conditions today. Critical fire weather conditions remain
through this evening, with low relative humidities and breezy
conditions. Relative humidities are below 5% in some areas this
afternoon. Enough lingering moisture over the Owyhees and
northern NV will be enough to trigger isolated thunderstorms
over far southwest ID this afternoon and the threat will
continue overnight as a weak wave moves northeast. A slight
chance of thunderstorms overnight over southwest ID mainly SE of
a line from Boise to Stanley, ID. Drier air moves into the area
on Sunday with slightly cooler temperatures and continued low
humidities. Winds aloft will be weaker Sunday and Monday so
afternoon breezes will be weaker.

An upper level four corners high, and a trough over British
Columbia, will keep our area under southwesterly flow aloft.
Monsoonal moisture will remain south and east of our area in
this pattern, leading to a hot, dry, and breezy long-term
period. Near (leaning above) normal temperatures will warm to
around 5 degrees above normal come Thursday, as the upper-level
high shifts west over the Great basin.

Scattered thunderstorms through sunset in south-central ID/Magic
Valley. Storms capable of outflows to 25-40 kt and brief heavy
rain. Wildfire smoke leading to reduced visibility down to MVFR-
IFR at times, especially overnight through morning in E Oregon.
High density altitude during PM due to heat. Surface winds: NW-
SW 5-15 kt, with gusts to 25-35 kt this eve for E Oregon and
higher terrain of SW Idaho. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: SW 10-30
kt.

KBOI...VFR with hazy conditions due to wildfire smoke, especially
morning hours. High density altitude during aftn/eve due to heat.
Surface winds: NW-NE 5-10 kt through sunset, then variable or
W-SW 3-6 kt overnight.

Sunday Outlook...Wildfire smoke with areas of MVFR visibility and
mtn obscuration during night/morning hours, slightly improving for
the afternoon. A 15% chance of showers/thunderstorms Sunday AM,
mainly south and east of KBOI-KSNT line in SW Idaho. High
density altitude during aftn/eve due to heat. Surface winds: SW-
NW 5-15 kt with gusts 20-25 kt in the afternoon. Highest gusts
will favor E Oregon and higher terrain of SW Idaho.
