Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
210 PM MDT Mon Oct 6 2025

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Wednesday night...Another Frost
Advisory has been issued for the agricultural areas in the
Snake Basin, this time for the Treasure Valley as well as the
western Magic Valley, valid 4 AM to 9 AM MDT Tuesday. Low temps
there will be between 33 and 38 degrees but frost can form at
air temps as warm as 36 degrees under clear skies and calm
winds. Isolated spots will dip to 30-32 degrees. The Boise
metro will not frost, with lows there between 38 and 42 degrees.
Higher-elevation valleys and basins will dip to the 20s. High
pressure aloft and clear skies will bring warming days, with
highs Tuesday about 5 degrees warmer than today, and Wednesday
another 5 degrees. Lows Wednesday morning will be 1-3 degrees
warmer than Tuesday, and Thursday morning another 3-5 degrees.
Winds will be east or southeast 5 to 15 mph through Wednesday
night, except gusts 25 to 30 mph Wednesday afternoon in the
Snake Basin east of Boise.

.LONG TERM...Thursday through Monday...A deep low pressure system
near Vancouver Island will push into the Pacific Northwest on
Thursday, with southwest flow ahead of the low bringing warm,
breezy, and dry conditions to our region. Temperatures will
likely hit at least 80F in the lower elevation valleys by
Thursday. The low will then move south and slightly inland,
bringing cooler temperatures and a slight chance of rain to the
region on Friday.

After Friday, model disagreement increases with the track of
the low. Some members have it deepening into a closed low to
our south, while others have it weakening into a trough.
Regardless, all members show cooler air and widespread
precipitation moving into the region during the weekend with
the largest uncertainty in precipitation amounts and location.
The coolest and wettest solutions show temperatures about
10-15 degrees below normal and snow down to 5000 feet MSL
by Sunday. Accumulations will likely be light in mountain
valleys, but there is a 5-10% chance of seeing at least 2 inches
of snow in McCall on Sunday. Higher elevations will see better
chances of accumulation, with Banner Summit seeing a 20% chance
of 4 inches of snow by Sunday. Another low could move in quickly
behind this one on Monday, bringing even cooler and wetter
conditions to the region.
