.DISCUSSION...Today through Friday...
Humidity values will increase today as tropical moisture begins
to move into the state. Shower coverage will increase through the
afternoon and evening, with the highest coverage (numerous) in the
mountains. The vast majority of the area will see rainfall totals
under 1/4 inch. Some locally heavy downpours could push rainfall
totals in those locations to near 1 inch.
A storm system with more widespread and heavier rain is still on
track to potentially impact the region late Tuesday through at
least early Thursday. While there is still much uncertainty in the
track, the latest trends continue to push this system slightly
closer to our area. The heaviest precipitation along with an
increasing flooding threat is still most likely over the
southeastern portions of the forecast area, particularly on
Wednesday. A few rounds of some light mountain snow (>12,000 ft)
is possible. Below-average temperatures look likely given the
increased cloud cover on Wednesday and Thursday. Overall, light
winds, high humidity levels, and potential precipitation will
continue to keep fire weather concerns minimized through this
period. Drier weather will eventually move into the area either
late Thursday or Friday. Humidity values will still remain above
25% on Friday.
