.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Saturday...
Saturday will be very windy with gusts up to 50 mph over the
northeast plains with the highest gusts close to the Nebraska
border. A cold front will move trough in the morning that will
decrease temperatures with highs staying in the low to mid 50s.
Therefore, minimum relative humidity will stay above 16% across
the plains and no Red Flag Warnings were issued. However, the
strong winds and dry fuels will create elevated fire weather
conditions across the plains.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Saturday night through Wednesday...
Sunday will be cool with highs in the 40s across the plains.
Monday through the rest of next week will be very mild and dry.
Humidity will drop to the teens each day. The winds will be light
enough Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, that no critical fire
weather conditions are expected. On Tuesday and Friday, there may
be enough wind to create critical or near-critical fire weather
conditions.
