.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...
A passing upper level disturbance will bring increasing westerly
winds in and near the Front Range Mountains and Foothills today.
Peak gusts near 30 mph can be expected there, with stronger gusts
to 50 mph reserved for areas above timberline. Temperatures will
still be well above seasonal normals, but humidity levels will be
improved (>25-30% in the mountains and 17-25% on the plains) due
to an increase in low level moisture. Isolated to scattered
showers will be possible in two rounds, one this morning as a
weak disturbance moves across and then another late this
afternoon and evening as the airmass destabilizes slightly. Most
precipitation amounts would be light, but gusty outflow winds to
30-40 mph can be expected near any showers or storms.
A cold front will push across the plains by or shortly after
midnight tonight, ushering in breezy north wins but cooler
temperatures.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Tuesday through Friday...
Cooler temperatures and higher humidity levels can be expected in
all areas Tuesday. There will be scattered shower and storm
coverage most days this week, but the the most widespread
coverage and potential for wetting rains is now expected to be
Thursday possibly lasting into Friday. No critical fire weather
conditions are anticipated.
