.DISCUSSION...Rest of today through Thursday...Monsoon moisture
across the mountains has led to scattered showers and a few
thunderstorms, which are expected to continue across most of the
afternoon and evening hours. Across the plains, dew points are too
low to support widespread wetting rainfall along the I-25
corridor, but locally heavy rainfall is possible this evening
across northeastern Colorado where deeper moisture is present.
Moisture will continue to advect into the region tonight into
Thursday, leading to more widespread storms during the afternoon.
Wetting rain chances will increase across most of the forecast
area, and weak winds along with increased RH will limit fire
danger.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday night through Monday...Monsoon
moisture is expected to remain over the region for the next
several days, leading to continued afternoon showers and
thunderstorms through the weekend. The best chance of rain will be
over the higher elevations, with decreasing chances from west to
east across the plains most days. Moisture will start to decrease
on Monday but isolated to scattered showers and storms are still
forecast. The cooler and wetter pattern should limit fire weather
concerns for the next several days.
