VFR conditions are possible for the TAF period. Scattered
elevated showers/storms with VRB gusty outflows will develop this
afternoon as early as 21Z. There is a chance that these storms
will initiate just east of DIA, however outflows up to 30 kts are
still expected. Winds will return to drainage overnight.
A similar wind pattern is expected tomorrow, with drainage winds
turning VRB by 16Z. Winds should prevail from the E/NE after that
with gusty outflows from showers between 20Z and 00Z.

KCOS, KPUB, and KALS: VFR conditions are expected over the next 24
hours. Light winds at the start of this TAF period will slightly
increase heading into the afternoon hours as diurnal mixing becomes
established. Dry conditions are expected for all three sites, though
KCOS may be impacted by developing thunderstorms this afternoon,
some of which may become strong, with frequent lightning, hail,
and gusty outflow winds. Otherwise, mid to high level clouds
will increase during the afternoon hours as showers and
thunderstorms develop around the region.

VFR conditions prevail at all terminals through the TAF period. Mid-
level cloud cover continues to cross western Wyoming to the
northeast as a weak shortwave moves through the state in southwest
flow aloft. Low level moisture will remain in place through the
early afternoon in the Bighorn Basin and Johnson/Natrona counties,
with a pseudo-dryline in place between the southwest winds (drier
air) and easterly winds (moist air). This shortwave will aid
convective development across the Absaroka Mountains and Bighorn
Basin this afternoon, starting around the northern end of the Wind
River Mountains and the southern end of the Absarokas between 18Z
and 21Z and move east-northeast during the afternoon and early
evening hours. Additional convection is expected over Johnson and
Natrona counties during this time as well. Most of these storms will
be in the form of high- based showers or storms as a result of the
southwest winds, which will lead to gusty outflow wind 35-45 kt
between 21Z-00Z. KCOD, KWRL, and KCPR are the most likely terminals
to see thunderstorm impacts after 20Z. However, confidence is too
low to include into the KCPR forecast at this time. Gusty west-
southwest surface wind 10-20 kt over the western terminals increases
between 17Z-20Z and continues until 02Z. Winds will become light
across all terminals by 06Z Monday.
A more potent shortwave will move in beginning Monday morning, with
a weak boundary moving north to south across the region during the
early morning. Northerly light winds will thus develop for terminals
east of the divide Monday morning. This boundary will also bring
some mid-level cloud decks with it, most notably at KCPR where cigs
at or around FL040 to FL060 could develop occur for a few hours
beginning around 10Z Monday morning. Simultaneously, a wave of
moisture will push in from the southwest which will bring BKN high
clouds to much of the region by the end of the period.

excess moisture in the region. Confidence is low on these lower
clouds forming, but included the best time for cloud
development in the TAF. Primary aviation concern today will once
again be isolated to scattered showers and storms, some of
which may be severe. Gusty, erratic winds are possible in and
around any shower or storm that develops this afternoon and
early evening. Skies should clear out behind the showers and
storms once more for the overnight hours.

VFR conditions are expected through the majority of the forecast
period.
The lone exception to this will be the threat for rain and
thunderstorms arriving from the west late Sunday evening.
Model guidance varies slightly on coverage and timing but
confidence appears to favor impacts at LBF over VTN. Will add a
PROB30 mention until confidence increases for LBF. No mention
was made at VTN at this time but should impacts occur, timing
and magnitude would likely resemble the same as LBF. LLWS is
also a consideration late in the forecast period and will insert
a mention at VTN.

KGLD and KMCK can expect VFR conditions to prevail for the
afternoon hours, although wind will be gusting around 20-30 kts
at KGLD and 18-25 kts at KMCK favoring a southerly direction
gradually favoring south-southeast later in the day. There will
be another chance for storms to impact both sites this
evening/tonight. Once again, storms would come in from the west-
northwest. Between the potential that the storms would fall
apart before they reach the sites, or the potential they would
be so scattered they miss the airports, there is no prevailing
period for storm impacts. That being said, we are 70-80%
confident if storms would impact either site, it would be
between 3/4 to 7Z. Behind the storms, or as their outflow clears
KMCK, some variable winds should be expected before they favor
a southwesterly direction. Threat for stratus tomorrow morning
is less than 15%, but if it does occur, expect something similar
to this morning.

No restrictive impacts to area terminals this afternoon or
evening as the convection risk is going to be isolated and of
low predictability. The most confidence we have is in the timing
of any convective threat which is in the second half of this TAF
set, basically after about 7z. A marginal severe risk outlook is
in place isolated storms Monday morning will be most likely
similar to Sunday mornings storms, with small hail and sub
severe winds, but locally very heavy rain dropping visibility to
a half mile locally. Much too early to consider mentioning in
any TAF, even as either PROB or VC. Winds remain prevailing out
of the southeast for the entire period.

Showers and thunderstorms will be a bit more numerous in the
eastern plains this afternoon, but still rather isolated and
discrete. Any storms will be capable of producing very gusty
downburst winds, and a couple storms will also drop large hail
through the early evening. A few dry storms producing very little
rainfall and gusty winds are also possible over the southwestern
mountains this afternoon. The gusty winds from storms will settle
through the late evening and early morning hours. Fewer storms are
then forecast for Monday. Hot temperatures will prevail both
today and Monday, creating high density altitudes that will affect
aircraft performance for some.
