Current observations show winds are easterly across the area with a
few lingering gusts up to 20KT driven by diurnal heating. Winds will
continue to turn clockwise, becoming southeasterly by around 01-02Z
before drainage S/SSW winds take over in the late overnight hours.
There is a small chance that an outflow tracking over eastern
Nebraska could survive for long enough to make it to the CO plains
in the early morning hours (07Z-10Z). If the boundary makes it to
the Denver area, it would reinforce (10-15KT) the southerly
drainage winds already in place at that time.
For tomorrow, winds will start out SW and become more north to
northeast by the late morning. The biggest concern will be dry
microbursts and strong erratic outflow winds, up to 45KT. High-
based showers will start developing over the foothills at around
19Z, likely becoming scattered over the Denver metro by 22Z. No
precipitation is expected to reach the surface.

VFR conditions are expected at KALS, KCOS, and KPUB through 24
hours. Some showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Friday
afternoon, mainly over and near the higher terrain. Precip is not
expected at KALS or KPUB at this time, though left VCSH in KALS due
to scattered coverage in the valley with some possible outflow. A
PROB30 group was added to KCOS after 21Z Friday, due to the
potential for isolated to scattered convection over the Palmer
Divide. Though rain is unlikely, there is higher confidence in brief
outflow winds. Otherwise, winds remain mostly diurnal across the
terminals, and generally below 15 knots.

.AVIATION...KSLC...The SLC terminal will see VFR conditions
through the overnight hours with some scattered clouds. Southerly
winds will continue overnight before shifting to the north between
19Z and 21Z. With increasing moisture, there is a 30 percent
chance of the terminal seeing a period of gusty and erratic
thunderstorm winds Friday, with the most likely time during the
late afternoon and early evening.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will prevail
across the airspace through the overnight hours. Scattered showers
and thunderstorms over southern Utah are expected to persist into
the overnight hours before diminishing as sunrise approaches. Any
storms that develop will have the potential to produce gusty and
erratic winds, lightning, and brief mountain obscurations. With
moisture increasing tomorrow, coverage of showers and
thunderstorms will become a bit more widespread tomorrow
afternoon, with similar potential aviation impacts as today. Away
from thunderstorms, generally light and terrain driven winds will
prevail.

Any lingering showers end by the start of the TAF period. Monsoonal
moisture will begin to move into southwestern portions of the area
on Friday. Most of this moisture will be above the surface, so it
will be enough for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to
develop, but not enough for much rain to reach the ground. Showers
and storms will first develop near KBPI and KPNA around 20Z, with
KJAC, KRIW, and KLND following around 21Z. There may be showers and
storms near KRKS as well, but the chance was too low (15-20%) to
include a PROB30 group at this time. There is about a 15% chance of
showers at KBPI, KPNA, and KJAC late Friday evening once PROB30
groups end at 03-04Z.
Wind will remain below 10 knots tonight into Friday morning. Then,
wind will increase late Friday morning and Friday afternoon to
around 10 knots for most terminals. KCPR will be a bit gusty with
gusts around 20 knots through the afternoon hours. The main threat
with showers and storms will be strong downdrafts and outflows.
Convective wind gusts may reach as high as 50 mph Friday afternoon.

this TAF period. Winds through the night will pose no aviation
hazard as they will primarily be less than 10 knots. Winds ramp up
across all sites with gusts up to 20 knots by 23Z Friday. Winds will
diminish once again by the end of this forecast period to less than
10 knots. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon,
impacting most terminals except KRWL, KCDR, and KAIA. However,
chances remain low and so does confidence, so kept any mention of
activity out of this set of TAFs.

VFR conditions look to largely prevail throughout the period
for both KGLD and KMCK. However, KGLD will be impacted by at
least an outflow from nearby storms to the east. There is a 30%
chance a new updraft forms and moves over KGLD, hence the prob30
group. After that, winds will be southerly for KGLD and light
and variable for KMCK. Tomorrow midday and afternoon, gusts from
the southeast up around 20 kts are forecast and KMCK could see
another chance at showers and storms.

issuance will be dry for all airports.

Scattered thunderstorms continue across the area as of 00z, with
isolated showers and thunderstorms to persist as late as 06z across
portions of west and east central NM. Outflow boundaries from
evening storms may produce isolated gusts at or above 35kts at
terminals through 03z, with lower gusts thereafter. The confidence
for outflow boundary impacts is higher than TS or SHRA impacts to
TAF sites this evening. Any direct TS or SHRA impact to terminals
may lead to brief MVFR to IFR visibilities. Mainly light winds
are expected overnight outside of brief gusty drainage winds near
mountainous terrain. Afternoon thunderstorms are expected again
near the end of the TAF period, mainly forming along the high
terrain of NM after 18z, with similar hazards likely (gusty winds,
brief MVFR/IFR visibilities).
