Main concern today is threat of gusty outflow winds from high
based virga/sprinkles 22Z-03Z. Given upstream satellite imagery
and radar returns, we believe there is enough moisture to warrant
at least a chance of gusty outflow winds. DCAPE is expected to
grow to 800-1200 J/kg and environmental winds are also increasing
today. There is uncertainty, however, if we fully reach
convective temperature. For now, we added a PROB30 VRB G30kts to
the TAFs to account for this potential with the main risk 23Z-02Z.
Otherwise, VFR conditions will persist. Light S-SW winds will
become Light and variable toward 16Z. There is still some
uncertainty in prevailing wind direction by 20Z, with a battle
between diurnal upslope and stronger westerlies trying to advance
off the foothills. For now, we`ve kept a N-NE component at KDEN
and KAPA, with a more W-NW wind likely at KBJC. Winds will
eventually settle to more SE-S-SW 02Z-06Z. A weak cool front is
then expected to arrive 10Z-12Z Saturday, which should push winds
to the NW-N-NE through early Saturday morning.

VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF period. Increasing
mid level clouds and periodic afternoon gusts of 25-30 knots
highlight today`s forecast. An isolated shower or storm cannot
be ruled out at the mountain terminals, but the potential is
too low to include in the TAFs. Winds overnight will return to
generally light and terrain driven. Cloud cover will also clear
out overnight, with the return of high clouds to begin Saturday
morning.

KSLC...Increased cloud cover, isolated shower chances, and
associated potential for gusty erratic outflow winds will persist
into late Friday morning. Winds otherwise follow a normal diurnal
pattern, most likely shifting NW ~17-19Z. Cloud cover will then
decrease through the day, with diurnally typical winds and VFR
conditions favored.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...A weak grazing system will
bring isolated shower chances to northern terminals through roughly
late Friday morning, and isolated convection to southern terminals
through Friday afternoon. Aside from the influence of precipitation,
winds are expected to follow a diurnally typical pattern. VFR
conditions are also anticipated to continue, with cloud cover
trending downward as moisture with the system decreases.

West of the Divide...KBPI/KJAC/KPNA/KRKS Terminals.
VFR conditions through the period. Gusty winds this afternoon are
from the west to southwest, with frequent gusts 20 to 30 knots. A
cold front pushes through east of the Divide, with the only impacts
being some increased clouds. Winds decrease this evening.
East of the Divide...KCOD/KCPR/KLND/KRIW/KWRL Terminals.
VFR conditions prevail through the period. The greatest impact to
sites today will be a cold front dropping from the north, bringing
gusty a northerly wind shift. The strongest gusts with the front
should last a couple hours after frontal passage. Some clouds will
also accompany the front. For upslope favored locations like KCOD,
KCPR, and KLND, MVFR to IFR ceilings are possible after frontal
passage, through Saturday morning. Confidence in low ceilings is not
high enough to prevail those conditions at this time, but have
included FEW and SCT groups.

This afternoon, winds will be out of the W to NW and become breezy
over the WY terminals, weakening in the evening and overnight.
Daytime winds are expected to be between 20-40 knots. Winds over the
NE terminals are also expected to be between 20-40 knots, staying
gusty through tomorrow afternoon. Sky conditions are expected to be
mainly FEW to SCT with high level cloud decks. There is a chance for
some showers or storms, but the probabilities remain too low to
include in the TAFs. Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected for this
TAF period.

VFR conditions are expected to prevail through tomorrow
afternoon across western and north central Nebraska. Strong
westerly winds are expected for western and southwest Nebraska
terminals into this evening, with gusts as high as 30 to 35kts.
Gusty south winds are expected for terminals along and east of
HWY 183, again as high as 30 to 35kts. A cold front then pushes
through the area tonight, leading to a wind shift to north for
all terminals.

For KGLD and KMCK, VFR conditions are expect to prevail
throughout the TAF period. Winds will be breezy and generally
out of the south throughout the day until around 0Z when they
shift to more light and variable. A cold front will pass through
the region early Saturday morning causing a wind shift to more
out of the northeast. Winds will pick up after the cold frontal
passage with gusts around 25 knots possible for KMCK.

period, with only some scattered high level cloud.

VFR conditions prevail and are expected to persist throughout the
TAF period, outside of brief blowing dust this evening. Main
aviation hazard this afternoon and evening are gusty to strong
outflow winds generated by high- based showers and storms across
western NM. Closer to western TAF sites (KGUP, KFMN), outflows
close to the terminals may produce gusts up to 40kts this
afternoon, primarily after 22z. The several outflows that are
likely to be generated from this activity will push towards
central TAF sites after 00-01z (primarily KABQ and KAEG). Winds
may get up to 35kts briefly in the Rio Grande Valley, with a low
chance for gusts up to 40kts near KONM. Blowing dust is also a
concern for the Rio Grande Valley this evening, which may briefly
bring visibilities into MVFR territory. Winds should subside
towards 10-15kts at most by 06-09z across the area.
