MVFR ceilings with areas of IFR are likely late tonight into
Wednesday morning, between 08z and 16z. MVFR ceilings may continue
later than that, but clearing is likely by 20z. Thunderstorms
will develop late Wednesday afternoon, and a few severe storms are
possible. There is a 70% chance of some thunderstorm impacts,
most likely after 21z. The main threats are variable wind up to 40
knots, but gusts to 50 knots, large hail, and IFR conditions in
heavy rain are possible (10% chance). Thunderstorm coverage and
intensity will diminish by 02z, but there will still be a chance
of storms and instrument approaches to KDEN may still be needed
into Wednesday night.

For KCOS and KPUB..VFR conditions are expected to persist through
the rest of tonight and into tomorrow morning. A cold front is
pushing across the region tonight through early Wednesday morning,
bringing northerly to northeasterly winds and increasing chances for
strong to severe storms over both stations, but especially at KCOS.
Highest chances for storms on station, along with MVFR and IFR
conditions during stronger storms, will be between 21Z and 02Z.
For KALS..VFR conditions are expected throughout the forecast
period. Westerly winds are expected for Wednesday afternoon, with
gusts to 22kt. Chances (30%) for showers and storms return for
Wednesday afternoon.

Isolated to scattered showers continue across eastern Utah and
Western Colorado near the Utah border. With the dry surface
layer, little rain is reaching the ground, but these showers are
producing erratic gusts 20-40 kts. Look for these showers to
diminish overnight and into the morning before showers and
thunderstorms increase again across the region around 18Z that
will last past 06Z Thursday. Primary threats are lightning and
strong outflow winds gusting 45 kts. Otherwise expect VFR
conditions though smoke from local wildfires will have minor
impacts on visibilities at most TAF sites. Expect light winds
through the TAF period with generally westerly winds through
the afternoon.

A complex aviation forecast is on track for the TAF period.
Lingering thunderstorms are moving through the northern NE
panhandle, and may bring lightning, gusty winds, and VIS drops
to KCDR over the next few hours. This should clear out by around
09z.
Meanwhile, low clouds are pushing southwestward, and MVFR to
IFR CIGs are expected through Wednesday morning at all High
Plains terminals. IFR is expected at KCYS, KSNY, and KCDR, and
possible at KBFF and KAIA. Additionally, temporary VIS
reductions as the cloud deck intersects the ground at times will
be possible, particularly at KCYS. Expect conditions to
gradually improve Wednesday morning, reaching VFR by the late
morning or early afternoon hours.
Attention then shifts back to thunderstorm activity as fairly
widespread thunderstorms are anticipated along the I-80 corridor
Wednesday afternoon and evening. This is handled with PROB30
groups at this time. Strong, gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and
hail will all be possible with Wednesdays storms.

Low stratus will continue to overspread all of western and north
central Nebraska prior to sunrise, with widespread IFR/locally
LIFR CIGs expected. Patchy fog is also possible for portions of
the Sandhills and north central Nebraska through late Tuesday
morning. Gradual improvement back to MVFR/low end VFR is
expected into Tuesday afternoon and evening, though some
expansion in low stratus is possible again Tuesday night.
Winds remain northerly through the valid period, at around 10 to
20kts.

0715Z Update: Stratus is forming ahead of schedule across the
area with ceilings around the 700 feet AGL height. Winds are
sporadically weakening to less than 7 kts, but then pick back
up. Overall, an unpredictable night to fly.
Conditions at both KGLD and KMCK are expected to worsen by
sunrise. Gusty winds will be far more common at KGLD until about
12Z, with gusts around 20 kts expected until then. KMCK could
see some gusts around 20-25 kts by sunrise, but they are
expected to be less common. A LIFR stratus deck is expected to
move in from the north around 9-12Z. Patchy fog is also
possible, but prolonged visibilities below 3SM is not expected.
Stratus looks to lift to MVFR heights around 16-18Z. Around 0Z,
the next round of storms are forecast to move in. KGLD is
expected to be more impacted by these storms. Timing is still a
bit of a question, but expected a pretty widespread convective
system in the evening and overnight hours.

An outflow boundary/cold front will cross the I-70 corridor
between 06z and 08z as an area of thunderstorms crosses north
central Kansas. This boundary will become nearly stationary
between Dodge City, Garden City and Hays late tonight and
through Wednesday, creating a favorable area for widely
scattered thunderstorms late today and early tonight. South of
this boundary overnight and Wednesday the winds will be
southerly at near 15 knots. North of the boundary the winds
will initially be northeasterly, gradually shifting to east
southeast at 10 to 15 knots. BUFR soundings indicate cloud cover
overnight and early Wednesday will be between 8000 and 12000
feet AGL. Isolated to widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms
may develop later this afternoon, initially occurring between
Hays, Dodge City, and Garden City. After 00z Thursday, the
chance of thunderstorms will increase as VFR ceilings lower to
3000 to 5000 feet AGL.

The last few showers of the night should dissipate within the next
few hours. Light winds and VFR conditions will prevail through the
overnight hours around the region.
Tomorrow`s crop of storms will develop over the western and
northern mountains around 18Z. Storm motion will be slow and
erratic, with the highest coverage in western and northeastern NM.
Gusty outflow winds of 30 to 40 kts will be commonplace with any
showers and storms that develop. Storms will likely persist well
past 00Z tomorrow in the northeastern quadrant of the state thanks
to a backdoor cold frontal intrusion.
