There are some isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms
near or over our 3 TAF sites as of midnight. Coverage of
thunderstorms is higher off to the east. Isolated storms will
exist near KDEN and KAPA for the next hour or two, with lower
chances for storms near KBJC. The main question we have going into
the overnight hours, is if the showers over the higher terrain is
going to survive and push off into the plains, impacting the
airports. Right now, we`re not expecting the showers to make it
to the TAF sites, but if the showers continue to strengthen and
look like they`re going to push off the foothills, there could be
an hour or two of rain as that moves east over the area. The most
likely timing for that activity would be around 07Z-09Z for KBJC
and 08Z to 10Z for KDEN and KAPA.
After the showers and thunderstorms move through, winds should
generally be from the south/southwest. In the mid morning, winds
will turn more westerly, then northerly, before eventually
becoming northeasterly around 17Z to 18Z. Chances for showers and
thunderstorms will be lower tomorrow, with the highest chances at
KAPA around 21Z to 01Z. Coverage will likely be lower than this
evenings convection. Starting around 03Z, breezy SE winds are
forecast to move into KDEN and KAPA, with gusts around 20 to 25
mph. Winds should start to decrease around 06Z and turn more
southerly.

KCOS, KPUB, and KALS: VFR conditions are expected over the next 24
hours. Heading through tonight, dry conditions are expected, though
impact from a rogue shower can not be ruled out, particularly for
KCOS and KPUB. Dry conditions then persist into early afternoon,
with thunderstorms developing by mid to late afternoon. Impacts from
these thunderstorms may bring heavy rain, reductions in visibility,
strong outflow winds, and frequent lightning. Beyond all of that,
pockets of mid to high level clouds will persist through this TAF
period, with the greatest coverage of cloud cover tomorrow
afternoon. Looking at winds, winds are expected to remain relatively
light, hovering around and less than 10 knots outside of any
thunderstorm influence. With that said, a cool front is still slowly
pushing southward at this moment, and may bring brief gusty
northerly winds to around 25 knots to KCOS and KPUB tonight.

A band of isolated to scattered showers with a few embedded
thunderstorms are quickly moving east across the region generally
along and north of I-70 favoring the higher terrain. Look for
these showers to to sag south to about KMTJ and KGUC through
the overnight as they diminish, ending by about 12Z. Isolated to
scattered showers and thunderstorms pick up again after 16Z
favoring the mountain areas. Primary threats are lightning and
outflow gusts to 35 kts. Probabilities remain low, 20%, at TAF
sites, but expect storms over the mountain around KEGE, KASE,
KTEX and KDRO through the afternoon. Conditions should remain
above ILS breakpoints. Otherwise look for VFR conditions with
light winds becoming westerly after 18Z with gusts 20-25 kts.

VFR conditions are expected through the period as any lingering
convection ends over the next couple of hours. Lighter wind and
decreasing clouds are expected overnight. No terminal impacts are
expected on Wednesday as convection potential is very low. KRKS will
see gusts to 25 knots Wednesday afternoon, with lighter wind
elsewhere.

An upper level disturbance and a surface backdoor cold front will
push into the region tonight. Expect a continuation of scattered
showers and embedded thunderstorms until 09z with clearing skies by
sunrise.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: With shower and thunderstorm coverage
lowering over the next few hours, most terminals will see dry
weather and VFR conditions. A fast-moving thunderstorm may impact
KBFF between 07z and 08z, but it is expected to weaken as it moves
east. Therefore, added a PROB30 group for this low-end threat. Off
and on showers will likely push over KCYS and KSNY until 09z, but
VFR conditions are expected to continue. Drier weather for Wednesday
with probability of precipitation lowering below 10%. Breezy
westerly winds for the southeast Wyoming terminals after 17z with
gusts up to 25 knots possible.

Scattered thunderstorms remain possible through late Wednesday
morning, leading to periods of MVFR visibilities and gusty,
erratic winds. In addition, low stratus and patchy fog
development is possible for terminals east of HWY 83, and
persists into early afternoon. VFR conditions are then expected
to prevail this afternoon and into tonight across all of western
and north central Nebraska.
Northerly winds prevail through the day, at 5 to 10kts. Winds
then gradually become southerly overnight, at 5kts or less.

Winds will be light and variable with gusts around 10 knots
possible.
For KMCK, VFR conditions are expected to prevail with showers

period of showers with reduced ceilings and visibility is possible
after 09Z, although confidence is low. Winds are forecast to remain
light and variable through the TAF period.

Flying conditions will be expected to be mainly VFR conditions
throughout the period. However, HYS may encounter storms later
this morning as storms work their way from northwest Kansas into
central Kansas. Timing of any storms is likely from about
08-14z. Storms are not expected to be overly impactful, but
could lower CIGs and bring locally stronger winds. The other
terminals should be too far south for storms to impact them.
Otherwise, in wake of a cold front that passed through this
evening will keep northerly and northeasterly winds 5-10 knots
through this morning and throughout the period.

northeast by the end of the TAF period. KAMA looks to see the wind
shift more northerly after 00z as the frontal boundary moves far
enough south.

There will be a somewhat gusty north and northeast wind shift
behind a moist backdoor front on the northeast and east central
plains early on Wednesday. Then, there will be an uptick in the
coverage of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and
evening. Storm motion will be toward the south and southwest
around 5-10 KT, except toward the southeast around 10-15 KT across
northeast areas. Some storms along and east of the Sangre de
Cristo Mountains, and also on the east central plains, will
probably turn severe by producing large hail and damaging winds
during the afternoon and early evening.
