A boundary just pushed across KDEN/KAPA that temporarily disrupted
the drainage winds and turned things to the southeast. This is
expected to reach KBJC by around 1230Z. Things are already working
their way back to the southwest, but it may take about an hour to
get back there. Winds are still expected to make their way to the
NNE at KDEN/KAPA, with KBJC staying slightly more NE by 18Z-19Z.
The main concern for today continues to be with the potential for
high-based showers capable of producing gusty outflows and some
dry microbursts. Despite the low potential for any precipitation
(~15% chance) at any of the TAF sites, there will be ample amounts
of DCAPE in the area that will support some strong microbursts as
showers move off the higher terrain through the afternoon. Even if
showers do not pass directly over the TAF sites, gusty outflows
are expected to impact the TAF sites, bringing potential for
multiple wind shifts through the afternoon, with gusts up to 30-40
kts possible. The greatest coverage in showers looks to be north
of the TAF sites in the afternoon, that will aid in keeping winds
more northerly, but certainly can`t rule out wind shifts from
other directions where showers develop. A PROB30 remains in all
TAFs to account for this, but has been pushed back an hour based
on latest guidance. As showers progress eastward in the evening,
winds should turn to the east before turning to the south and then
drainage for the overnight. We can`t rule out a few easterly
outflows making it back to the TAF sites through the evening, as a
few stronger storms are expected to develop over the eastern
plains.

Isolated high based showers and thunderstorms will be possible
near the terminals this afternoon and evening with KCOS and
KALS having the best chance of -TSRA/-SHRA. Main risks will be
gusty outflow winds up to 30-35 kts. Odds for -SHRA or -TSRA
look too low to warrant a Prob30 group for KPUB but gusty
outflow wind shifts from decaying thunderstorms will be likely
during the late afternoon and evening towards 00z. Further
revisions will likely be needed as we see exactly where
thunderstorms form and the impacts from outflow winds. -KT

from thunderstorms.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Mostly VFR conditions will
persist for the entire airspace throughout the day. Isolated to
scattered convection will develop across the airspace during the
afternoon and early evening with brief impacts to terminals. Gusty
and erratic winds will be possible with nearby storms. Otherwise,

Mainly VFR conditions are expected through 12Z Saturday. After a
mainly dry start there will be another day of isolated showers
and thunderstorms. We kept the PROB30 groups at all TAF sites
that had them before (KRIW, KLND, KJAC, KBPI and KPNA). With
recent model trends we also added a group to KRKS starting at
20Z this afternoon. Most showers and storms will have little
rain. However, wind gusts of 40 knots will be possible in and
around any shower or thunderstorm. Most showers should end by
04Z. A few showers may linger in vicinity of KJAC, KBPI and KPNA
overnight, but with chances generally 20 percent or less, we
left them out of the TAFs for now. Most locations should see
winds generally less than 11 knots except near any showers or
thunderstorms. An exception will be in vicinity of KCPR where
gusts to 20 knots will be possible.

Upper level ridge axis will strengthen over the Intermountain West
today as a stationary front slowly drifts south towards the Colorado
border today and tonight. Widely scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms possible ahead of this front into this evening.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: VFR conditions will prevail over the next 24
hours. Although there is a possibility of some showers and a few
thunderstorms for most terminals, coverage is expected to be
limited. Kept TS out of the TAF for now, but added VCSH to KLAR,
KCYS, and KBFF this afternoon. North winds will shift into the east
behind the front with occasional gusts around 20 knots until 03z
Saturday.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected along a line from KDCR to
KBBW this morning and are not expected to impact the KLBF or
KVTN terminals. Later this afternoon, the threat for
thunderstorms will increase, especially over western into
southwestern Nebraska. ATTM, feel enough forecast confidence
exists to mention thunderstorms at the KLBF terminal from 23z to
05z Saturday. Will handle this with a prob 30 group for now.
Winds this afternoon will be easterly and southeasterly at both
terminals with gusts up to 20 KTS possible. Winds will diminish

A weak surface boundary is expected to stall somewhere across the
Texas Panhandles this afternoon, which will provide us a lifting
mechanism for chances at thunderstorms through late tonight.
However, with moisture today lacking in comparison to yesterday,
these storms are expected to be much more isolated, with chances
of impacts to the terminals not high enough to mention in the
current TAF package. Instead, expect for VFR conditions to be the
more dominate condition at the terminals for the next 24 hours.
