Stronger tstms this aftn will depend on heating and it`s really
a 50/50 probability if that occurs or not. Have left tempo
between 21z and 01Z for tstms. Lower have scattered out wit just
a mid level deck now. Winds will stay E or ESE thru the aftn.
Overnight, there will be a weak Denver Cyclone but location isn`t
certain at this point. If winds go W or NW at DIA late tonight
can`t completely rule out some stratus in the 11z to 15Z time
period. Winds tonight will become more southerly and then go
more variable in direction by 14Z Thu.

Expect mostly VFR conditions through the TAF period though smoke
from local wildfires will have minor impacts on visibilities at most
TAF sites along and south of the I-70 corridor. Widely scattered
showers with embedded thunderstorms will develop around 18Z favoring
the higher terrain, and will last to about 01Z before diminishing
with a few lingering showers continuing through 06Z. Primary threats
from these storms are lightning and strong outflow winds gusting 45
kts.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms are ongoing over northern
portions of the CWA this morning. These showers have pushed east past
KCOD and KWRL terminals, but will likely impact KBYG from 12Z to 15Z.
VLIFR to LIFR conditions are in place at KJAC and KCOD, with conditions
expected to improve at KJAC after sunrise and VFR conditions returning
by 16Z. LIFR to MVFR ceilings will remain in place across northern
portions throuygh 18Z/19Z. MVFR ceilings are expected to develop over
the Wind River Basin after sunrise, with VFR conditions returning by 17Z/18Z.
Showers and thunderstorms will redevelop over southern portions this
afternoon, impacting KRKS between 21Z and 01Z. Wind gusts around 25 kt
will also impact terminals west of the Divide, except KJAC. Clouds
will scatter out across the west this afternoon, with SKC skies in place
for most areas by sunset this evening. Lingering SCT-BKN FL040 clouds over
portions of Johnson/Natron counties through the TAF period.

this morning. Low CIGs will likely burn off early this

visibility drops in any storms passing over a terminal. MVFR to
IFR visibility will be possible in heavy rain. Strong, gusty
winds and large hail will also be possible in storms this
afternoon and evening. More low stratus will build in late
tonight and continue through Thursday morning.

MVFR ceilings are forecast to continue for the majority of the
day in wake of a cold frontal passage this morning. So peaks of
some are possible during the mid to late afternoon hours
however. With the quicker movement of the front do think that
any severe threat has shifted to the south of each terminal;
however the threat for storms still remains for KGLD but may be
dependent on how far south the front sags and if any northward
moving outflow can emanate from a cluster of storms to the south
of the terminal. So will maintain the PROB30 for now; still
can`t completely rule out some showers or isolated storms for
KMCK but confidence is not at 30% to warrant a PROB30. Strong
signal for more stratus to develop behind the rain along with

Main focus this morning will be on chance for thunderstorms
today and early tonight followed by low clouds (IFR conditions)
spreading into southwest Kansas after midnight behind a cold
frontal passage.
A stalled surface boundary across southwest Kansas will be the
primary forcing mechanism for afternoon thunderstorms developing
after 2 PM. Short term models are coming into better agreement
that this boundary will likely be located south of Hays, between
Dodge City and Garden City, by late today. This results in a
30% chance of thunderstorms at these TAF sites this afternoon. A
higher chance (60-80%) of thunderstorms is expected across all
of southwest Kansas after 00Z Thursday. This is due to an upper
level trough exiting the Rockies and crossing western Kansas.
BUFR soundings, HREF ceiling probabilities, and LAMP guidance
all indicate VFR conditions today, with VFR ceilings developing
this afternoon (9000 to 15000ft AGL). Ceilings are expected to
lower to 2500 to 4000 ft AGL after 00Z Thursday. After 06Z there
is a greater than 60% chance of ceilings falling below 1000 ft
AGL as gusty north winds develop behind a cold frontal passage.

VFR conditions expected to prevail through 00Z Thursday for KDHT
and KGUY, 06Z Thursday for KAMA. During the overnight period
thunderstorm chances increase after 00Z Thu mainly across the
northern combined OK/TX Panhandle. Conditions from heavy rain and
even low clouds going into 12Z tomorrow may fall to IFR even LIFR
are times. Winds will should remain southerly until a
front/outflow boundary move in from the north along with the
thunderstorm activity bringing winds to the north to easterly.
Some of the storms may be strong to severe with torrential
rainfall.

Light winds and VFR conditions will prevail this morning. Storms
will develop over the high terrain of western and northern NM
around 18Z and increase in coverage through the afternoon. Storm
motion will be slow and erratic, driven mainly by outflow
boundaries. Gusts of 30 to 40 kts will be commonplace with these
outflow boundaries. A backdoor front will intrude from the
northeast around 00Z, surging south and westward overnight. Storms
may initiate along the boundary and continue past 06Z in the
northeast quadrant of the state. Gusty east winds (20 to 35 kts)
are likely at KABQ at the tail end of the TAF period from this
backdoor front as it surges through the gaps of the central
mountain chain.
