Stratus the main concern in the short term, then chance of storms
late this afternoon and evening.
A weak cold front had moved across the area early this morning,
with a stratus deck near 7500 ft MSL and MVFR developing across
the Denver area TAF sites. Those conditions should persist most of
this morning and last close to 18Z-19Z, but considering the
relative breaks in the stratus to the east at the present time, it
could break a couple hours earlier. Scattered showers/storms are
possible in the late afternoon and evening (22Z-04Z), but coverage
may very well be limited by low level stability behind the front.
We`ll have a VCTS or Prob30 to account for the somewhat lower
probability of storms today.
There is a low risk (20-30% chance) of stratus and IFR/MVFR
redevelopment overnight tonight, considering the low level
moisture in place and potential for weak Denver Cyclone.

KCOS and KPUB..VFR conditions are expected through the remainder of
tonight and into tomorrow morning. Chances for showers and
thunderstorms will be possible in the vicinity of KCOS from 20Z
until 03Z this afternoon, and from 22Z until 01Z for KPUB. MVFR
ceilings and visibilities, along with lightning and gusty winds will
be possible with any storms that move over or near either station
today
KALS...VFR conditions are expected for KALS for the next 24 hours.
Light southwesterly and westerly winds are likely through most of
the forecast period. Some showers and weak thunderstorms will be
possible along the terrain surrounding the station, though chances
of any storms moving within the vicinity are low at this time.

.AVIATION...KSLC...A light wind is forecast early this morning
with a slight increase in speeds forecast out of the northwest
after 17z. Look for northwest winds and VFR conditions the
remainder of the day.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will
continue today under the influence of weak high pressure. A very
low chance for afternoon thunderstorms (<10%) will exist across
central Utah, potentially impacting PVU and HCR. Similar to
yesterday, gusty westerly winds are forecast to develop across
southwest Wyoming in the afternoon with gusts around 20 to 25
knots. Otherwise, light winds are forecast across Utah today.

VFR conditions prevail at all terminals throughout the TAF period.
SKC prevail across all terminals by Friday morning and remain
through most of the period. West- northwest winds develop by
early Friday afternoon with periodic gusts of 20 to 25 knots in
terminals West of the Divide as well as in vicinity of KCPR.

Area of low stratus with patchy areas of FG are beginning to develop
across the area this morning. MVFR CIGS are already impacting the
KCYS terminal this morning and these CIGS may move into the Nebraska
terminals throughout the morning hours. Light easterly flow will
keep these low clouds around through 18z. The KCDR and KAIA
terminals my keep MVFR/IFR CIGS through the valid TAF period while
the other sites see a window of VFR conditions.

should begin to impact the vicinity of the KLBF terminal after
12z this morning. Storms should remain in the vicinity of the

improving to 5000 to 7000 FT AGL this afternoon. For the KVTN

For KGLD... VFR conditions are forecast through the period,
though will have to watch for some lower ceilings this morning.
The storms should have prevented ceilings from lowering, but
earlier guidance was suggesting a period of ceilings around
500ft. Otherwise, storms are possible from 22-04Z, but most
likely around 00Z. Storms could be severe with large hail and
wind gusts to 70 mph. The rest of the night is forecast to have
VFR conditions and relatively light southeasterly winds.
For KMCK... VFR conditions are forecast through the period, will
need to watch for lowering ceilings and a brief round of showers
through the morning hours. Then this afternoon/evening, storms
are possible from 21-06Z with the most likely time around 00Z.
Once the storms pass, VFR conditions with light southeasterly
winds are forecast.

A period of low clouds (below 1000 ft AGL) will be possible
through 15Z today at Dodge City and Hays as light southeast
winds increase to 10 to 15 knots. In the Hays area, in addition
to the low clouds, there will be a chance for isolated to
scattered thunderstorms. These clouds and thunderstorms will
give way to clearing skies between 15Z and 18Z as an upper-level
disturbance crosses western Kansas. After sunset, scattered
thunderstorms that developed over eastern Colorado earlier in
the day will move across southwest Kansas. Based on the majority
of the CAMS this morning, these thunderstorms will cross the
Garden City and Liberal areas between 03Z and 06Z Saturday.
Between 06Z and 09Z, these storms will cross the Dodge City and
Hays areas.

For the 12Z TAFs, a few light showers near KAMA and KDHT should
diminish this morning. Otherwise, additional showers and
thunderstorms are expected to develop very late this afternoon
into tonight across the area, and have included mention at KGUY,
KDHT, and KAMA during this time period. Based on latest model
guidance timing, the showers and storms should be east of the
terminal sites by around 06Z.

East canyon winds have subsided at KABQ this past hour. Low clouds
with pockets of MVFR persist through portions of Lincoln and
Chaves County and near KROW and KSRR this hour but are slowly
clearing from east to west. VFR prevails until the afternoon when
isolated to scattered thunderstorms initiate along the east slopes
of the Sangre de Cristo Mts around 19Z to 20Z. These cells will
track east to southeast over northeastern and east-central NM to
the TX border by 00Z to 02Z. Some of these storms will become
strong to severe. More isolated thunderstorms will be possible
further south along the Sacramento Mts and have maintained the
PROB30 at KROW highlighting the lesser chances there. Outflow from
these storms will kick moisture back west tonight likely giving
ABQ another east canyon wind, but not expecting it to reach AWW
strength as it did last night. There is a bit higher potential for
low clouds and IFR/MVFR cigs however.
