VFR conditions through tonight, but there will likely be periods
where ceilings in the 5000 to 6000 foot range may require
instrument approaches to KDEN at times. This is most likely with
rain showers in the area through about 15z, and then when there
are scattered showers and thunderstorms 21z-02z. Wind directions
are uncertain, but mostly a northerly component and under 10
knots. Variable gusts of 20 to 30 knots are possible (20% chance)
with the afternoon thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms will be an early event for the KCOS and KPUB
terminals this afternoon and will carry a PROB30 starting at 18z
at KCOS and as early as 19z for KPUB. KALS will follow suite but
expect a little later timing there, closer to 21z. Gusty
erratic outflow winds, brief moderate to heavy rainfall and
lightning will be the primary storm risks. Activity should pull
east of the terminals towards 00z to 01z with VFR cigs gradually
breaking and clearing out towards morning. Winds will remain
gusty northerly at KCOS and KPUB becoming thunderstorm outflow
dominated with erratic wind directions through early evening
before decreasing after sunset. KALS will see light winds before
thunderstorm winds impact the terminals during the late
afternoon and early evening, then settle on an easterly
direction through the evening before diminishing overnight. -KT

Low stratus and some valley fog is producing IFR conditions at
many terminals this morning. A few isolated rain showers are
winding down too as a weak disturbance clears the west side of
the Divide. Clouds and fog will burn off around 1000 MDT and

Prevailing VFR conditions will continue through the TAF period.
There are a couple of areas of showers and embedded thunder, and
these will mainly impact KWRl and KCPR through around 1400.
Patchy fog may develop in vicinity of KLND and KRIW with last
nights rain but not enough confidence to include it at this
time.
This area of showers and storms will end this morning, with
more convective development Saturday afternoon. The best chance
for impacts from convection will be at KCPR Saturday afternoon,
which is denoted by a PROB30. With the models trending a bit
wetter, we have also added PROB30 groups after 18Z in vicinity
of KWRL, KRIW and KLND, where there is around a 1 in 4 chance of
a shower or thunderstorm through around 01Z Sunday. Wind will
remain below 10 knots, outside of convective activity, tonight
through Saturday morning. Gusty wind will develop at KBPI, KPNA,
and KRKS Saturday afternoon. Dry weather should return after 03Z
Sunday.

Upper level trough is forecast to push east across the high plains
today resulting in another round of showers and thunderstorms late
this morning and this afternoon. Drier weather is expected for
Sunday.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: Isolated rain showers expected this morning,
but conditions should remain VFR for most terminals. Observations
across the area show some patchy fog, but coverage has been limited
and duration has been very brief, so will keep out of the TAFs for
now. Another round of thunderstorms expected to develop around 17z
to 20z for KLAR and KCYS. These thunderstorms will move east and
southeast through the afternoon before dissipating this evening.
Kept thunderstorms out of the TAF for most western Nebraska
terminals due to low coverage and limited confidence.

Expansive low stratus will continue to hamper aviation
operations across west central Nebraska terminals.
A slow moving disturbance continues to promote areas of rain
along with low stratus. A clearing line has set up near a
OGA to GRN line but eastward progression of this remains
uncertain. For now, believe some improvement is likely at LBF
and have inserted high-end MVFR conditions for much of the
afternoon hours. Confidence is a little lower at VTN and though
some improvement appears possible, have maintained IFR for now
with possible amendments to come. A lengthy period of VCTS was
added to LBF as short term guidance hints at isolated convection
this afternoon but given sparse coverage of small cells,
uncertain if direct impacts occur.
Tonight, low stratus will redevelop coincident with fog. Expect
fairly widespread IFR/LIFR conditions once again with the
potential for dense fog affecting at least portions of the area.

Ceilings will continue to break apart this afternoon, but
IFR/LIFR conditions are not expected to fully clear out of KMCK
until around 20Z. Until then, some additional showers may impact
the airport and lower visibilities. KGLD may see another round
of showers move in from the west around 19Z. Confidence these
showers impact the airport directly is less than 40%, but at
worse we`d expect visibility to drop to around 3 miles for about
15-30 minutes.
This afternoon, around the 22-04Z time frame, a round of storms
may move in from the northwest and impact both KGLD and KMCK.
Gusty winds are expected to be the main impacts, but
visibilities may drop around or below 4 miles if a storm moves
over the airport. Following the storms, generally northwesterly
winds are expected, which will likely lead to some stratus
developing. Currently, KMCK looks to be worse off than KGLD, but
there is a 40% chance the stratus expands west and KGLD will see
another morning of LIFR ceilings.

A bank of low level clouds remains over the panhandles for this
morning that can cause brief MVFR conditions. This deck is lifting
and scattering which will return conditions to VFR. This afternoon
and evening rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to form
in the panhandles. All terminals may be impacted by these with
KAMA having the highest chance, followed by KDHT, and then KGUY.
The rain showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing
heavy rainfall that can reduce conditions to IFR or worse.
Further, some of the storms may become strong to severe and able
to produce damaging winds and large hail. Currently the threat for
severe storms is highest in the southern panhandles including
KAMA. Following the rain showers and thunderstorms another bank of
low clouds has a moderate chance of developing in the panhandles.
This deck would be capable of producing MVFR to IFR ceilings at
any terminal it impacts. This is most likely at KAMA thus is
reflected in the TAF, while KDHT and KGUY have lower chance thus
it is not reflected in the TAFs.

VFR conditions prevail and are forecast to persist across western NM
through the TAF period with mostly light winds. More significant
impacts are forecast across eastern NM, where MVFR and even short-
lived IFR conditions are possible in patches of low stratus
through this morning. In addition, MVFR and short-lived IFR
conditions are likely in sct/num storms across eastern NM this
afternoon and overnight. Thunderstorm outflow will combine with a
weak backdoor front to produce a gusty east canyon wind at KABQ
toward the end of the TAF period.
