Some uncertainty with the winds over the next 6-9 hours. A front
is still on track to move in from the north, but there is a wide
spread in when exactly it reaches the terminals. We have it
pushing through the sites around 13/14z. There is a ~30% chance
that winds turn more W to SW ahead of the front. There is also a
~30% chance that the front pushes through a few hours earlier than
this.
The main issue during this TAF period will be ceilings. RH cross
sections and model soundings continue to show impressive moisture
across the area. Once the front pushes through, we expect low
status for much of the day. KAPA and KBJC look to have the lowest
ceilings- approaching 4000 ft AGL. KDEN should see ceilings drop
to ~5000 ft AGL this morning and through the early afternoon. We
expect ceilings to lower even a bit further for the late evening
into Wednesday morning.
Short-term models continue to back off on rain chances for much
of the day today. These solutions seem reasonable given SW flow
aloft. Some light rain is possible in the evening hours, but
meaningful rain chances do not enter the picture until the very
end of this TAF period (~8-12z Wednesday) as the upper-level low
moves closer. Any rain shower could lower ceilings and/or
visibility. As previous discussions have noted, KAPA will be the
most favored terminal for rainfall Tuesday evening and beyond.

KALS: MVFR to IFR conditions are expected throughout the next 24
hours. Off and on rain showers will last through the night into
early Tuesday morning, with some passing low stratus and fog
possible after 09Z. After a brief lull in precipitation in the
morning, rain showers return to the area during the afternoon and
will last into Tuesday Night.
KCOS:
Some showers will move through the area for another few hours, with
a lull in precipitation overnight. Low clouds are expected to
remain, with conditions hovering in MVFR most of this period.
Showers move back into the area Tuesday afternoon, though coverage
early in the day will be more scattered in nature. Coverage of rain
increases towards the end of this forecast period.
KPUB:
Rain will continue for another few hours, decreasing a bit in
coverage overnight and into the morning. Some patchy low stratus and
fog will be possible prior to 13Z, but overall cloud cigs will
remain near MVFR. Conditions could fall into the lower end of MVFR
at times as well with brief vis reductions within showers. Showers
will move back into the area by mid-afternoon on Tuesday, with
confidence in coverage increasing later in the day.

shifts to the north of the above line. Winds south 5-15 kts
daytime, light and variable overnight. Gusty and erratic winds

OUTLOOK...Wednesday 30/06Z through Friday 02/06Z...Expect
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms area wide through
Tuesday night with the focus of precipitation then shifting
towards eastern Arizona on Wednesday. Look for areas of MVFR
conditions with brief IFR conditions in heavier showers and
thunderstorms. On thursday, VFR conditions and fair weather
arrives. Daytime winds, west to northwest at 5-15 kts Wednesday,

KSLC...VFR conditions will persist at the KSLC terminal through the
entire TAF period. Chances for some showers at the terminal remain
low but possible through 08z as a cold front pushes through the
area. The terminal is currently experiencing light east-southeast
winds, which is forecast to switch to elevated northwest winds
through much of tomorrow, with gusts up to 20kts.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will prevail
across all terminals. Chances for showers remain possible across
most TAF sites through 8z, especially at the southern terminals. A
cold front will move through much of the area, resulting in VFR
conditions with enhanced NW flow across all northern TAF sites.
However, KCDC and KSGU will continue to see chances for showers and
thunderstorms carry in through much of tomorrow.

Lingering rain showers continue to decrease late this evening.
Clouds are expected to decrease and mostly clear from northwest to
southeast through Tuesday morning. Confidence on fog potential
remains too low to include, though the best chances appear to be at
KPNA and KBPI. Otherwise, wind will remain light (below 10 knots)
through the period, with mostly clear skies expected Tuesday
afternoon and evening.

the south, increasing chances of precipitation for KCYS, KAIA,
and KSNY. At this time, confidence is low on the placement and

The threat for rain showers will continue into the overnight
hours for both terminals. With precipitation intensity being
fairly light overnight, visby restrictions will only be as low
as 3 to 4 miles with showers. Ceilings will remain around 6000
FT AGL for both terminals overnight into Tuesday. Ceilings will
fall to 2000 to 3000 FT AGL at the KLBF terminal late this
afternoon persisting into the evening hours. At the KVTN
terminal, ceilings will rise to 9000 to 20000 FT AGL later this
afternoon into the evening hours.

coverage through the day on Tuesday, eventually becoming
widespread Tuesday night. Flight categories will gradually
worsen, mainly at KGLD, where ceilings will reach MVFR by
Tuesday afternoon and IFR by Tuesday night. Confidence is lower
at KMCK, where ceilings may remain VFR until Tuesday night as
the main bulk of the showers stays south, but still could see
occasional MVFR ceilings there with any passing shower.

is possible in the heavier showers. Expect winds to gradually
veer from southeast to south early in the period, with speeds
lowering to the 8-12 kt range.

This TAF period will be quite messy especially after 12Z. There
may be periods of VFR but expect to stay mainly MVFR to even LIFR
as there will be abundant atmospheric moisture with shower and

slightly higher for thunderstorms. Where the heaviest rain falls
in the Panhandles is a bit uncertain with all three terminals
having a potential to be impacted.
