Weak prefrontal wind shift will bring VRB winds in the very short
term, then a cold front is scheduled to arrive by 08Z at KDEN
with a push of gusty north-northeast winds to around 20 kts.
Front will make it to KAPA by ~09Z, then winds should gradually
weaken and turn more northeast (more VRB at KBJC and KAPA), before
taking on a more easterly component by 15Z-18Z.
Another round of virga showers will be possible Saturday
afternoon, likely starting 21Z-22Z. Although conditions look
slightly less favorable than Friday, a few microbursts with gusty
winds up to 30KT cannot be ruled out, particularly near KAPA.
Otherwise, winds will gradually turn more SE-S but could be gusty
to ~20 kts due to outflows from showers on the Palmer Divide.
Winds eventually return to fairly normal S-SW by 05Z-06Z Sunday.

Overall, VFR conditions anticipated across much of the forecast
area over the next 24 hrs, including the three main TAF sites
of KCOS, KPUB and KALS.
KCOS - Enhanced northerly push to 25 kts between 12z and 17z.
Surface winds swinging around to the normal diurnal SE direction
in the afternoon but gusting to around 22 kts between 20z and
24z.
KPUB - Enhanced northerly push to around 15-20 kts between 13z
and 17z. Surface winds swinging around to the normal diurnal SE
direction in the afternoon but gusting to around 22 kts after
21z.

KSLC...The SLC terminal will see VFR conditions through the
overnight hours with mostly clear skies. Southerly winds will
continue through the morning, shifting to the northwest between 19Z
and 21Z.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...The entire airspace will see
VFR conditions through the overnight hours. The northern two-thirds
of the airspace is expected to remain dry with mostly clear skies
and terrain driven winds. A few showers and storms continue over
southern Utah this evening, with a line from near Milford to near
Hanksville expected to see some showers continuing overnight. Any
storms that develop will have the potential to produce gusty and
erratic thunderstorm winds. Some storms are then expected to develop
Saturday afternoon, primarily focused over eastern portions of the
airspace.

VFR conditions expected for most over the next 24 hours. A cold
front has pushed southward east of the Continental Divide, and will
bring breezy northeast winds to many locations in the basins of
northern and central Wyoming. West of the Divide, westerly winds are
weakening, and will become light overnight. Expect breezy west winds
to redevelop Saturday afternoon, especially west of the Divide. Very
little cloud cover to mention for most sites, with COD and CPR being
exceptions. Both of theses sites could see brief scattered to broken
MVFR cloud decks due to nearby light rainfall this evening, which
had lead to a little moisture in the low levels of the atmosphere.
Any low clouds near these sites are expected to quickly dissipate
after sunrise.

A weak cold front has pushed through the area this evening, shifting
surface winds from westerly to either northerly or northeasterly.
There are low probabilities (<15%) of KCYS and the Nebraska
terminals seeing low cloud development, primarily from 09Z to
sunrise given the NE upslope flow. Confidence isn`t high enough
given current obs/trends to include a PROB30 group for MVFR cigs.
Winds will shift to more out of the SE tomorrow at 10-15 knots east
of the Laramie Range. KLAR and KRWL will maintain westerly flow with
gusts as high as 30 knots.

afternoon across western and north central Nebraska. A cold
front has exited southwest Nebraska. Northerly winds will gust

of the TAF period. At KLBF, a northeast wind will gust up to
25KT until 15Z Saturday, then lighter winds below 10KT into the
afternoon and evening.

GLD: Low confidence in ceilings. Recent runs of the HRRR and
RAP suggest that IFR ceilings will develop in the wake of a cold
frontal passage around or shortly before sunrise (11-12Z), and
that MVFR ceilings could persist through the remainder of the
morning (possibly into the afternoon). -If- MVFR ceilings
develop and persist through much of the day, improvement during
the late afternoon would likely be short-lived, with ceilings
quickly deteriorating to IFR after sunset. Light southerly or
variable winds will abruptly shift to the NE and increase to
10-15 knots in assoc/w a cold frontal passage during the early
morning (~10Z), further increasing to 15-20 knots with gusts to
~25 knots by sunrise (~12Z). Breezy NE winds will persist for
several hours, then decrease to 10-15 knots during the late
morning to early afternoon. NE winds will veer to the E during
the late afternoon (by sunset) and ESE or SE during the evening,
near the end of the 06Z TAF period.
MCK: Low confidence in storm potential early this morning and
low confidence in ceilings for much of the TAF period. As of
0530Z, thunderstorms in eastern Nebraska have backbuilt west
toward Kearney and Hastings. Further backbuilding toward the
west is possible over the next few hours, perhaps as far west as
the McCook terminal, though.. guidance presently suggests that
convection should remain well east of MCK. Recent runs of the
HRRR and RAP suggest that MVFR ceilings (2000-3000 ft AGL) may
develop in the wake of a cold frontal passage around or shortly
before sunrise (11-12Z) and that MVFR ceilings could persist
through the remainder of the morning (possibly into the
afternoon), though.. the strongest signal for stratus
development is generally south of the McCook terminal. Light and
variable winds will abruptly shift to the NE and increase to
10-15 knots in assoc/w a cold frontal passage during the early
morning (~10Z), further increasing to 15-20 knots with gusts to
~25 knots by sunrise (~12Z). Breezy NE winds will persist for a
few hours, then decrease to 10-15 knots during the late morning.
NE winds will veer to the E during the late afternoon (by
sunset) and ESE or SE during the evening, near the end of the
06Z TAF period.

VFR conditions are expected to be prevalent throughout the TAF
period. There is a slight chance (20% or less) for storms to
impact DDC and LBL Saturday afternoon and evening, but given
the very low chances, elected to keep mention out of the TAFs for
now. Will evaluate confidence in later updates. Otherwise, a
cold front will stall out across the area, leading to a wind
shift that will track southward. Southerly and southeasterly
winds will start the period, with northeasterly winds beginning
in HYS around 09z this morning and drifting southward through
the morning. Winds will increase north of the boundary 15-20
knots with lighter winds for areas like DDC and LBL, given
closer proximity to the front and weak surface low.

Mainly VFR conditions at all terminals for the next 24 hours.
However later this afternoon to evening there is a low chance for
thunderstorms mainly in the northeastern to eastern panhandles.
A passage of a thunderstorm can bring IFR conditions mainly due to
visibility reductions from heavy rain. Severe thunderstorms that
can produce large hail and damaging winds cannot be ruled out. For
now the chances of these storms impacting any terminal is to low
to be reflected in the TAFs. This can change so stay tuned for
future TAFs. Otherwise breezy southerly winds will occur this
afternoon at all terminals.

Isolated high-based -SHRA west of the central mt chain late this
evening will continue producing sprinkles with erratic wind gusts
thru 3AM. Isolated SHRA/TS will redevelop over the high terrain
between 2PM and 4PM then move east across eastern NM with strong
and erratic wind gusts >35KT, brief rain, and some lightning. A
northeast wind shift will then move southwest across eastern NM
after sunset Saturday with peak wind gusts in the 15-20KT range.
This boundary may also produce patchy low cigs in its wake.
