Sufficient drainage winds are developing, which will keep any
threat of fog north of KDEN and KBJC this morning. We do
anticipate winds becoming light and variable toward 17Z, before a
more northerly component develops. However, fog should have
dissipated by then so mostly clear skies on tap for the first half
of the TAF period, and then only some thickening high cirrus
clouds after about 03Z. Therefore, VFR conditions will persist
through the entire period.
There is some uncertainty to winds this afternoon as an
anticyclonic flow pattern is expected to develop due to northwest
winds coming across the Cheyenne Ridge. This would support an
earlier turn to east/southeast which could happen as early as 20Z,
and as late as 23Z. Then winds turn more south/southwest by 01Z and
persist around 10-12 kts through about 17Z-18Z Tuesday. KBJC will
have a 50-60% chance of mountain wave interaction with a few
gusts around 25 kts after 08Z tonight, so added a TEMPO for that.

VFR conditions are expected at all three TAF sites, KCOS, KPUB, and
KALS, for the next 24 hours. Brief light snow may be possible at all
three stations for the next couple of hours as lingering showers
continue to exit the area. Any degradation of ceilings and vis this
morning with spotty showers is expected to be brief. Most of the
activity has pushed south and east of all three terminals. Mid-level
clouds are expected to clear from north to south throughout the
morning hours, giving way to clear conditions through the remainder
of the TAF period.

expected to wind down across the region and VFR conditions

breakpoint ceilings are not expected.

.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions prevail behind
the exiting storm early this morning for most terminals, except KEVW
where some low clouds lingering will bring IFR/MVFR conditions
periodically through the morning. Otherwise, clearing skies are
expected across the airspace through the morning before mid-to-high
level cloud cover begins to fill in from the north this evening
ahead of our next storm. Winds remain generally light and diurnally

At KPNA, IFR flight conditions should begin to improve between 14Z-
16Z this morning. Then, VFR flight conditions are forecast most of
the TAF period all West of the Divide terminals. Moisture begins to
filter into the region after 00Z Tuesday, resulting in increasing
cloud cover and occasional mountain obscuration. There is a 20%
chance of MVFR ceilings at KJAC and KPNA after 08Z Tuesday and these
chances are reflected in a prevailing SCT030 group. The disturbance
aloft associated with the increased moisture will reach western
Wyoming/KJAC late in the period, bringing a 30% chance of snow
showers at KJAC between 06Z-12Z Tuesday. Chances at KPNA, KBPI, and
KRKS are between 10%-20%, so there is no mention in TAF at this
time. MVFR flight conditions could accompany any snow showers.
At KRKS, KPNA, and KBPI, winds increase between 17Z and 20Z with
gusts between 20-30kts and continue through the evening. Expect KRKS
to be the gustiest terminal. At KJAC, expect winds to become gusty
as the disturbance aloft approaches after 06Z Tuesday.
East of the Divide...KCOD/KCPR/KLND/KRIW/KWRL Terminals.
VFR flight conditions are forecast this TAF period. Moisture begins
to filter into the region after 00Z Tuesday, resulting in increasing
mid level cloud cover and occasional mountain top obscuration. After
16Z, winds increase with gusts around 25kts at KCPR until 00Z
Tuesday when gusts subside. KCOD is forecast to become gusty after
02Z Tuesday as a disturbance aloft begins to shift into the region.
There is a 20% chance in gusty west-northwest winds between 20-30kts
at KRIW after 07Z Tuesday, however, given these low chances there is
no mention in TAF at this time.

Upper level trough, which brought snow to most of the region on
Sunday, will continue moving east into the Great Plains today. The
next system will be quick to follow and is forecast to impact the
region late tonight with increasing cloudiness.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: VFR will prevail after 14z for all terminals
with breezy conditions expected after 16z. Some patchy fog and/or
low CIGS are possible between now and 14z for the western Nebraska
terminals, but confidence and areal coverage are low enough to not
include in the TAF. Any IFR VIS and CIG will be brief and expected
to lift shortly after sunrise.

Snow is still impacting both KGLD and KMCK, but will be letting
up at KMCK fairly soon. Through the rest of the event, MVFR or
better conditions will dominate for KMCK, but briefly IFR
visibilities are still possible. For KGLD, IFR visibilities are
still going to be moderately common as heavier waves of
precipitation move over the airport, but only a few more waves
are possible. Conditions should improve to MVFR, limited by
ceilings, by 14Z and back to full VFR by 16Z. Keep eye out for

As the winter system continues to move eastward, snow bands
have developed across western Kansas. Snow is currently falling
at HYS with a chance to fall at GCK and DDC later in the
morning. Because the snow may come in sporadic bands, PROB30 was
used at DDC and GCK. These bands are also bringing low
ceilings, lowered visibilities, and lowered flight conditions.
The snow will stop around 16Z and the sky cover receding later
around 21Z. Winds will be primarily light and variable through
the period.

VFR conditions are forecast with this TAF cycle. Southerly winds
initially will become northerly to northwesterly behind a weak
surface boundary. Winds behind the boundary should be between
10-15 kts with potential gusts up to 25 kts. Winds will decrease
around sunset this evening and will switch to out of the west at
10 kts or less. High clouds are currently over the region but will
clear out over the next 12 hours or so.

A gusty Pacific cold front will continue to produce northwest
winds and snow showers in the Albuquerque area for another hour or
two, then skies will clear. Accumulating snow and mountain
obscurations in the northern mountains will also diminish by mid
morning, followed by clearing skies. Otherwise, northwest winds
will probably be a little gusty over central areas today, and up
around Clayton.
