Denver cyclone/shear boundary beginning to show up nicely on the
TDEN radar. It extends from near APA (just north) to CFO. The
boundary has been fairly stationary over the past hour. It is
farther south than most of the models show, so will continue with
north/variable winds through the afternoon. However, there is
still a chance (30-40%) that the boundary drifts northward through
DEN bringing gusty southwest winds. After 00Z, the cyclone
weakens and winds eventually return to a southerly drainage
direction by 06Z (or sooner if the boundary moves through).
For Wednesday, southerly flow increases ahead of an approaching
upper level trough. Most models show fairly strong south winds
(gusts greater than 25 knots) after 18Z Wednesday. Feel the models
are underplaying the Denver cyclone. Usually we will see a well
developed Denver cyclone through early afternoon in these set ups
and then it slowly mixes out during the afternoon. Expect gusty
south winds to arrive at DEN, but may not occur as soon as the
models show. Another thing to watch for Wednesday will be
thunderstorms after 20-21Z. HRRR is bullish with thunderstorm
development, while other models show drier air and fewer to no
storms for the Denver area. Drier air typically wins out,
especially with the southerly downslope winds off the Palmer
Divide, so will leave the mention of storms out of the TAFs at
this time.

Scattered to widespread showers are moving across the region.
Most of the ongoing showers have moved north of I-70. After 00Z
chances for showers will primarily be over the higher terrain of
eastern Utah and the San Juan Mountains. Overnight
precipitation chances begin to increase again as scattered to
widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected tomorrow.
Showers may lower visibility and ceilings, leading to periods of
MVFR conditions and ILS breakpoints for some sites. Gusty winds
will be possible this afternoon, primarily near the Four
Corners region.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Showers and thunderstorms reducing CIGS/VIS into
the MVFR range will end by 11Z, with VFR conditions following
throughout the day. Winds may be light and variable through 13Z
before southerly winds become re-established and continue throughout
the day. After 02Z the chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms
will increase again, and continue through the overnight hours with
periods of MVFR CIGS/VIS possible.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Lingering showers and
thunderstorms reducing CIGS/VIS into the MVFR range across northern
Utah/southwest Wyoming will end by 15Z, leaving VFR conditions under
southerly flow across the region through the daytime hours. These
winds will gust in excess of 30 KTS across southwest Utah this
afternoon. After 00Z this evening moisture will spread back into the
region bringing widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms
across the state through the overnight hours. Periods of MVFR and
local IFR conditions can be expected, particularly across northern
Utah/southwest Wyoming.

MVFR ceilings are expected (60-80% confidence) to dissipate around
20Z at KCOD and KWRL. IFR to MVFR ceilings are forecast (40-70%
chance) again tonight at KCOD and KWRL as well as at KRIW, KLND, and
JAC. All other terminals generally have a 10% to 30% chance of MVFR
ceilings and where chances are slightly higher, FL035 groups were
added. At KRKS and KCPR gusty winds around 20-25kts are forecast
until 01Z/02Z.
Scattered showers spread south to north across western Wyoming after
sunset this evening, with impacts possible at KJAC and KPNA as early
as 02Z. There is a 20% chance in a shower or thunderstorm at KRKS
all through the TAF period but given the low chances, opted to not
include in TAF. MVFR flight conditions could accompany any rain
showers. Shower and even a few thunderstorms generally spread to all
other terminals around the end of the TAF period. However,
confidence in direct impacts are less than 30% so there is no
mention in TAF at this time.

Limited aviation concerns for nearly all terminals across the CWA
through this afternoon as skies clear and winds remain relatively
light. However, IFR CIGs are holding on strong at KSNY and visible
satellite imagery depicts very little movement, so expect IFR to MVFR
CIGs into this afternoon. Finally, hi-res guidance has FG rolling
back in, decreasing CIGs and VIS for terminals across the Nebraska
Panhandle (KCDR, KBFF, KAIA, and KSNY) after 04Z Wednesday, added
this in their TAFs. KCYS may be impacted as well, however a bit
later, added VCFG in for 09Z Wednesday.

Fog development will be likely this evening into the morning
hours Wednesday at both the KLBF and KVTN terminals.
Visibilities may reach a quarter mile overnight tonight at the
KLBF terminal and a half a mile overnight at the KVTN terminal.
Expect mainly IFR and LIFR ceilings over the next 24 hours at
both terminals. Some scattering of clouds is expected at the
KLBF terminal Wednesday morning after 16z. Cloud cover is
expected to persist at the KVTN terminal well into the afternoon
hours on Wednesday.

For KGLD & KMCK... Fog has been lifting and is expected to be
gone by 19Z. The low cloud ceilings on the other hand are likely
to linger until drier air and warmer temperatures move in from
the west and clear things out. For KGLD, this could be as late
as 00Z and 03Z for KMCK. The forecast is currently closer to
mid-afternoon with clearing already observed in Eastern
Colorado. Once the ceilings lift, VFR conditions are forecast.
Will need to watch KMCK for potential resurgence tonight, but
the chance is currently less than 20%. Otherwise, winds will
remain from the south through most of the period around 10-20
kts with some gusts as high as 30kts. The stronger winds are
favored more during the late morning hours tomorrow.

Widespread very poor aviation weather this morning, with
widespread LIFR/VLIFR flight categories in stratus/dense fog,
will continue to improve rapidly to VFR this afternoon as the
warm front makes progress northward. Expect GCK/DDC/LBL to
return to VFR no later than 18z, with HYS following soon after
by 21z. South winds will increase significantly after 18z,
gusting 28-30 kts at all airports. No fog is expected tonight,
with light south winds prevailing. After 15z Wed, strong south
winds return, averaging 20-30 kts with higher gusts.

Main concern over the next several hours will be with shower and
isolated thunderstorm activity which will favor KDHT and KGUY
after 19z (KAMA more so before 19z). Some MVFR conditions and
lightning may accompany any of the stronger cells, but most of the
shower activity should be low impact. Showers and storms should
largely come to an end this evening, but the trend has been to
linger showers longer into the evening for the Northwest near
KDHT and KGUY. Winds should stay southerly at 10 to 15 knots.

Across western NM, VFR conditions are expected to prevail through
the TAF period. Along and east of the central mountain chain, a mix
of VFR to MVFR to IFR conditions are likely to persist throughout
much of the TAF period. Showers moving across eastern NM as of 18z
are likely to depart around 20-21z, in which additional
convection looks to fire across the central mountains after
20-21z. Any direct hits to terminals are likely to produce short-
lived MVFR to IFR conditions, with the highest confidence for
KLVS. This initial round of convection should persist through 01z,
and thereafter a second batch of showers with a low chance of an
embedded thunderstorms is expected to develop across central NM.
This gives a chance for showers at KSAF after 03z, and KABQ/KAEG
after 06z, and thus is included in the TAF. IFR or lower ceilings
are expected to develop along the central mountains late tonight
after 06-09z, with KLVS likely experiencing another early morning
round of fog and possible LIFR/VLIFR conditions. KSAF is likely to
see MVFR to localized IFR ceilings during this same timeframe.
Elsewhere, VFR conditions are likely. One other mention is the low
chance of LLWS at KGUP near and after 12z, but confidence was not
high enough to put in the TAF.
