Fairly straightforward looking TAFs for most of this period, but
monitoring a slight chance of fog impacts early Friday morning.
For the short term, ACARS and observations show moisture generally
at or above 11,000 ft MSL, while satellite shows gradual clearing
from the north. While we`ll likely see some redevelopment of
strato cu with daytime heating, for the most part it appears it
will only be SCT above 5,000-6,000 ft AGL. We do think the
majority of any BKN redevelopment and ILS requirements would be
confined to south of KDEN. Skies will clear by 00Z. North-
northeast winds will become more easterly 20Z-00Z, and then SE-S
with an enhanced southerly component by 03Z-06Z.
For overnight, we do expect enough radiational cooling for hybrid
advection/radiation fog development. Since it`s in almost due
southerly flow, we expect this mostly over the south facing
slopes of the Palmer Divide and Cheyenne Ridge. However, a weak
cyclone/shear zone is still expected to develop, but it should be
slightly farther north than typical. That means the main threat
of any fog/stratus would remain north of KDEN, but enough threat
on the fringe of the weak cyclone to bring fog to the vicinity
northwest of KDEN. Thus, we`ll have a couple hours of VCFG in the
TAF 12Z-15Z, but probability of direct impacts to the airport are
only about 20%.

VFR conditions at COS and PUB can be expected through the late
evening, with gusty northerly winds of 15-25kts diminsihing
through the afternoon, becoming generally light east to
southeast upslope by the early evening. Upslope flow continues
overnight, with MVFR/IFR stratus and fog forming at the terminals
by 10Z, with the best chances of lowered cig/vis being at COS.
Stratus/fog diminishes by 16Z with VFR conditions through the
rest of the taf period.
VFR conditions are expected at ALS through the period, with
breezy northerly winds diminishing through the late afternoon.

KGLD and KMCK will see ceilings rise and scatter out this
afternoon as the system moves east. Gusty north-northeast winds
will remain gusty through about 00Z becoming light and variable
overnight. VFR conditions will then prevail through this
evening as skies clear and surface high pressure moves in. The
combination of clear skies, light winds, and recent rainfall
will allow for patchy to areas of fog to develop after 06-08Z.
Fog will mix out tomorrow morning by 15-17Z.

Ongoing showers/thunderstorms are expected to further develop
southward across west central Kansas into southwest Kansas through
late afternoon while individual cells track westward on the back
side of a closed upper low shifting east through central Kansas into
eastern Kansas, affecting the vicinity of KHYS, KGCK, and possibly
KDDC. Otherwise, prevailing low level stratus stretching from central
Kansas southwestward into extreme southwest Kansas in vicinity of
a stalled frontal boundary attendant to a surface low is expected
to begin spreading southeast this afternoon as the boundary finally
nudges southeast into northwest Oklahoma, allowing MVFR/IFR cigs
to persist/redevelop in vicinity of all TAF sites through late
evening. Northeast winds around 20 to 30kt with gusts up to 40kt
are forecast to initially develop northwest to southeast generally
after 18-20Z this afternoon as the aforementioned surface low slides
southeast into western Oklahoma, then begins to gradually slacken
off through tonight as surface high pressure slides southeast out
of the Dakotas into the Upper Midwest.

As of this afternoon, present radar has seen subsidence winning
out with showers and thunderstorms staying out of the Panhandles.
However, this activity has result in some low cloud decks present
across all the terminals that has seen CIGs dip in and out of
MVFR conditions this afternoon. By this evening present CAMs are
still expecting a cold front to push in which will see the start
of isolated to scattered storms across the area that may impact
the terminals through the late night hours. At this time primary
concern for any storm will be more on the reduce visibility from
moderate to heavy rainfall, but occasional lightning can`t be
ruled out either. Regardless, look of this cloud cover to hold
through the overnight with potential to briefly see CIGs drop to
IFR levels.

A north/northeast oriented jet is moving across the state today
behind the exiting upper-low that brought rain to the area
yesterday. A few showers will linger through the day across the
far northeast, with dry conditions prevailing elsewhere. Gusty
north winds are likely in eastern areas with a strong breeze in
central and northern areas. Low clouds are likely to fill in
across the eastern plains after 00Z, with high confidence for
persistent MVFR to IFR conditions through much of the night. LIFR
to VLIFR conditions will likely develop along the east slopes of
the Sacramento Mountains as a result of upslope flow. Although
there is a low (<20% chance) of patchy fog and low clouds for
central and western sites tonight, it was not included in any
TAFs.
