VFR conditions expected to persist through the evening before fog
develops and a Denver Cyclone pulls it south into KDEN and KBJC
for the overnight and first half of Friday morning. For the next
few hours, guidance portrays the cyclone moving northeast across
KAPA/KDEN that makes for some uncertainties in the wind forecast
while this occurs. The current TAF portrays the highest confidence
solution, with a few hours of northeasterly winds from now until
around 3Z at KDEN, before turning clockwise to the SSW by about
4Z. KAPA will likely see light and variable winds develop in the
next hour before they also turn to the SSW by around 4Z. KBJC will
likely see a NW transition by around 2Z before becoming light and
variable through late Friday morning.
Fog is likely to make it into KDEN/KBJC sometime between 9Z-10Z,
with it getting within the vicinity of both TAF sites between
7Z-8Z. Expecting visibility to drop down to 1/4SM or less once
the fog settles in. KAPA remains a wildcard with low confidence in
fog making it that far south, but it should make it within the
vicinity by around 9Z, and will have to monitor trends and
conditions to potentially add a PROB30 or TEMPO in the coming
hours. Guidance does show a fairly quick clearing between 15Z-16Z
Friday morning.
Friday looks similar to today, with NE winds developing by early
afternoon, becoming easterly and slightly increasing in magnitude
around 21Z, with another cyclone potentially moving across the TAF
sites Friday evening. While it`s outside of this TAF package, it
does look like we will have potential for fog to return early
Saturday morning that could at least make it into the vicinity of
both KBJC and KDEN.

Significant mid and high level cloud deck over the western half of
the forecast area and the I-25 Corridor, affecting the three main
TAF sites of KCOS, KPUB and KALS. As has been the case the past few
nights, areas of fog and low stratus expected to push in across
portions of the eastern plains tonight through Fri morning,
producing IFR/LIFR conditions. Mentioned VCFG for KCOS, though
confidence is low that it will directly affect terminal. Did include
TEMPO group for LIFR fog for PUB from 10z-14z, though it may begin
an hr or two earlier, and last until 16z. Will amend as needed. KALS
remains VFR through the forecast period.

showers/storms, with southerly winds 5-15 kts expected otherwise.
OUTLOOK...Saturday 31/00Z through Monday 02/00Z...VFR/MVFR
conditions likely through 12Z Saturday with scattered to
widespread -SHRA/-TSRA. A brief break between storms is forecast
between 12Z Saturday and 00Z Sunday, with dry conditions
but with local MVFR conditions lingering over the mountains.
Afterwards, numerous SHRA and isolated -TSRA forecast for
central/northern Arizona, where widespread MVFR/IFR conditions are

during the 19-20Z timeframe, with a 20% chance this wind shift
occurs as early as 18Z. Winds will return to southeasterly around
03Z.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions are expected at
all terminals through tonight. South to southwest winds will develop
this afternoon before diurnal winds return shortly after sunset. An
increase in moisture Friday morning will bring a chance of showers
and thunderstorms to KCDC and KSGU after 15Z Friday.

Southwest flow aloft will continue over southeast Wyoming and
western Nebraska through late Friday with intervals of mid to high
clouds. Southeast upslope flow at the surface will help in low
clouds and fog development over the eastern high plains tonight
through early Friday morning.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: VFR conditions will continue this evening at
most terminals with KSNY remaining MVFR with 1500 ft CIGS over the
next few hours. CIGS and VIS will trend lower for all of western
Nebraska and KCYS in southeast Wyoming through 08z. Main Aviation
concern will be timing since confidence is pretty high (>60%), but
expect KSNY and KAIA to be the first terminals to see LIFR
conditions and VIS below 1 mile. Most high res models show KCYS
getting a few hours of LIFR conditions as well, so added VCFG to
KCYS through 12z. Conditions will slowly improve from west to east
between 12z and 18z Friday.

The main aviation concern will be lowering ceilings to IFR by
10Z at KLBF.
For the KLBF terminal: Clouds will increase beginning this
evening with MVFR ceilings by 03Z, and IFR ceilings by 10Z
along with some patchy fog and drizzle. Visibilities may fall
off to 3 to 5 SM with ceilings of 500 to 700 FT AGL.
For the KVTN terminal: Ceilings will fall overnight, becoming
MVFR by 13Z Friday morning with cloud decks around 2000 FT AGL.
Cloud cover is expected to persist into Friday afternoon with
only modest increases in ceilings at KLBF and KVTN.

For KGLD, LIFR conditions are forecast to start the TAF period.
Expect ceilings to stay around 100-300ft, along with fog 2SM to
1/4SM. These conditions will cause Airport minimums through the
night. Winds will likely stay light and variable through the period.
Towards the end of the TAF period, ceilings should begin to lift and
MVFR conditions will likely occur.
For KMCK, fuel alternative MFVR is forecast to start the TAF period.
From 03Z-05Z, ceilings may drop to around 500 ft causing LIFR
conditions. Beginning around 05Z, 2SM to 1/4SM fog is forecast to
roll in, along with ceilings around 100-300 ft promoting
LIFR/Airport minimum conditions. These conditions should last until
19Z. Throughout the TAF period, light rain may occur, the most likely
times will be from 04-14Z. Winds are expected to be light and
variable through the period. Towards the end of the TAF period,
ceilings should begin to lift and MVFR conditions will likely occur.
For both KGLD and KMCK, cool temperatures and saturated air increases
the threat for low level icing through the period.

A weak surface boundary is forecast to slowly lift north across
southwest Kansas tonight. Given the forecast position this will
result in light southerly winds for Dodge City, Garden City and
Liberal. In the Hays area this boundary will be near or just
south of the area overnight before lifting north of the I-70
corridor after 12z Friday. This will result in light and
variable winds overnight. The low clouds and fog that is
currently present at 23z Today at Hays will continue overnight
and will gradually lower after 06z with LIFR conditions between
08z and 16z Friday. Further south the clouds will also increase
and lower overnight as an area of showers and thunderstorms
move towards southwest Kansas after daybreak. Much like Hays
these lower ceilings that will precede the rain will spread
into the area mainly after 06z Friday as areas of fog develop in
the Garden City and Dodge City areas. Ceilings currently in
these locations are expected to fall back to around 500ft AGL
from 06z through 15z Friday.

Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected over the next 24 hrs,
leading to sporadic flight category changes. A thunderstorm
approaching KDHT this evening will have potential to impact the
site through approximately 02z, with heavy rain and small hail the
main hazards. As we reach the early morning hours and progress through
the day Friday, periods of light to moderate rain showers are
expected, although embedded weak thunderstorms can`t be ruled out.
Confidence is highest at KAMA and KGUY, but KDHT should see
additional showers at times as well. Ceilings and visibility will
deteriorate as a result, ranging from VFR to LIFR throughout the
period. Winds will swing out of the south-southeast at 5-15 kts.

Mid level clouds across most of the airspace this evening and
overnight with showers and embedded storms across south central
and southeast NM. Showers and storms across southeast NM,
including KROW, could produce brief periods of MVFR conditions
Brief clearing across western and central NM mid to late Friday
morning before showers and an isolated storm or two develop across
the higher terrain midday. Rain will result in MVFR conditions
across far eastern NM much of the day Friday. MVFR conditions
should lift at KROW during the afternoon hours.
