An elevated drainage wind has been in progress at KAPA and KDEN over
the last several hours. Recent observations in Douglas and Elbert
counties show numerous locations with gusts up to 25 kts. There is a
TEMPO at KAPA from 7z to 11z to account for the possibility of these
stronger gusts making it into the terminal. Regardless, we expect
wind gusts up to about 20 kts at KAPA and KDEN through the overnight
and into the day on Monday. KBJC should remain light and VRB.
A cyclone is expected to form later this morning. Models have been
in good agreement that this will be centered north of the three
sites. KBJC winds could lean more northerly as a result, but are
overall expected to remain light and VRB until any showers arrive
this afternoon. Several waves of showers are likely- starting at
20z and then lasting through the end of the TAF period- at all
three sites, but KDEN and KAPA will be most favored. TEMPO groups
are in place at KBJC and KDEN with prevailing -SHRA at KAPA from
20z to 24z including the potential for lower ceilings at times.
This represents the period of highest confidence for these showers
as of now. We have VCSH and/or PROB30 for the potential for
showers and lower ceilings continuing at KDEN through the rest of
the TAF period. KAPA is likely to continue to see the most
numerous showers through Tuesday morning and beyond where there is
a TEMPO for Monday evening.
Ceilings start to lower by the late afternoon, especially by 00z
Tuesday (Monday evening) and beyond. For now, there is BKN060 at
KDEN starting at 6z Tuesday. These ceilings will certainly need
to be adjusted in future updates. There is good model agreement
that we will likely see low stratus and reduced visibility at all
three sites starting around 12z Tuesday or even a few hours before
then.

Winds lighten overnight across the TAF sites KALS, KCOS, and KPUB,
with increasing mid-level clouds. Monday afternoon, winds will
increase out of the south-southwest, gusting 20-25 knots at times.
Rain showers will spread across the area, first at KALS, followed by
KCOS later. Coverage at KPUB will be more spotty at first, but all
the TAF sites are expected to see rain showers, MVFR cigs, and
potentially some fog and low stratus late evening into Monday
Night.

KSLC...Cloud cover and shower chances gradually increase into Monday
morning, particularly after around 12Z as remnant tropical moisture
overspreads the region ahead of a cold front. Some development of
embedded thunderstorms will also be possible Monday afternoon.
Southerly winds are favored to continue, with occasional gusts
during times of precipitation. Models suggest a switch to a
northerly wind direction around 00Z-05Z Tuesday, though uncertainty
is noted. Precipitation chances then decrease overnight into Tuesday
morning.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Remnant tropical moisture will
continue to overspread the area, increasing shower chances Monday
morning on into the day. During the daytime, some embedded
thunderstorms are also expected to develop. Winds will generally
favor a southerly direction, with gusts (and some potential
variability) possible during times of precipitation, and especially
thunderstorms. A cold front will gradually shift southward, allowing
winds to begin to favor a more northerly direction at northern
terminals Monday night into early Tuesday. VFR conditions are
expected to prevail, with some modest decrease to CIGS/VIS during
periods of higher precipitation intensity.

A weather system will pass through the area over the next 24 hours.
This will lead to multiple rounds of rain showers, rain, and
isolated thunderstorms through Monday afternoon. The rain will
gradually subside Monday evening as the weather system slides south
and east of the area. Conditions will predominantly remain VFR,
although will drop to MVFR at times during rain and storms. Brief
IFR conditions will be possible in the heaviest showers and
strongest storms. Ceilings are likely (70%) to drop to the upper end
of MVFR at KPNA Monday morning into early Monday afternoon.
Wind will be highly variable with numerous showers and isolated
storms through most of the TAF period. Wind should stabilize and
become light after sunset Monday. Sporadic to frequent mountain
obscuration will occur during the TAF period. It will be most
prevalent Monday morning.

A tricky forecast for this period as showers and storms will lift
across the region through the overnight hours and again by Monday
afternoon, with chances for all terminals. Any storms could bring
locally lowered VIS along with gusty and erratic winds. CIGs will
generally be mid-level as precipitation moves in, but will lower
tonight into Monday morning as an influx of moisture overspreads the
region. Low CIGs and VIS continues to plague KCDR, conditions should
improve through the nighttime hours as winds increase from the
south, look for AMDs in the TAF.

Monday with cloud decks ranging from 300 to 900 FT AGL. Ceilings
will improve after 17z Monday to MVFR levels, before becoming
VFR mid afternoon Monday. There is a threat for thunderstorms at
the KLBF terminal Monday evening. For now, will handle this with
a prob30 group as the best chances arrive after the end of the
forecast period.

GLD: Southeast winds of 10 to 15 kts will persist through the
period. Gusts of 20 to 28 kts will become more likely after
sunrise as daytime mixing sets in. Given southeasterly flow,
there is a possibility that visibility could drop to MVFR
overnight with IFR/MVFR ceilings developing, but will quickly
return to VFR through mid-morning. Mid and upper-level cloud
cover will be on the increase through the afternoon and into the
evening.
MCK: Low VFR or MVFR ceilings will develop by 07-09Z with the
potential for IFR ceilings between 09-11Z. Low stratus is more
favorable tonight versus dense fog, but there could be periods
where visibility drops below IFR near sunrise. Any fog and low
stratus will start to mix out by mid-morning with southeasterly
winds increasing to 10 to 15 kts, with gusts of 15 to 25 kts,

Flight conditions will start out as VFR. A low stratus deck or
even fog will be possible in the morning with IFR conditions.
Some of the models were showing the potential for dense fog for
KGCK and KLBL in the morning. Confidence on this right now is
not particularly that high. The 12Z TAFs might have to be
adjusted if fog trends become more clear later through the
overnight hours. Otherwise, flight conditions will return back
to VFR as fog and/or stratus starts to erode. Winds will remain
light SE to S 5-10 kt.

Light showers begin entering far western NM tonight, intensifying
with sporadic MVFR conditions after sunrise Monday morning. Stray
fast moving embedded thunderstorms will be possible in this area
as overall precipitation expands eastward to the Rio Grande Valley
late Monday afternoon. TEMPO groups are included mainly for the
TS risk during this time reaching areas along and west of the
central mountain chain. Thereafter, ceilings look to lower with
LIFR/IFR conditions beginning to spread through the western half
of the state all while shower activity looks to continue on. VFR
looks to prevail along and east of the central mountain chain with
shower and thunderstorm activity not reaching eastern NM until
near 03Z to 06Z and thereafter into Tuesday morning.
