Current radar shows light snow showers spilling off the
foothills. Best timing for snow to reach the airports will be in
the next hour or so, and lasting through 06Z (lingering snow showers
possible through 09Z for APA). Generally light snow accumulations
are expected across the TAF sites (<1"), although there is a 20%
chance for a narrow snow band producing up to 2" for APA
(KBJC:15%, KDEN:10%). Lower ceilings down to 1500 feet and visibilities
dropping as low as 2SM is possible as the showers travel east.
Expect ceilings to gradually improve to VFR category after
11Z-13Z.
In terms of wind, the boundary associated the with cyclone has now
started to shift west, so the stronger SE winds will gradually
turn light and VRB for DEN in the next hour (light NW for APA and
BJC). Winds are expected to stay relatively light (<10 kts) from
the NW, turning SW tomorrow morning.
For tomorrow, winds should gradually turn NW to NNE, with winds
between 10-15 kts at times for KDEN and KAPA. KBJC is expected to
remain light and generally VRB.

Snow showers, and possibly a localized heavy band or two, will
be possible at the 2 taf sites between 02 UTC and 08 UTC.
Although mainly light snow is expected, if a band develops, a
quick 1 to 2 inches of snow could occur. as shown by hi
resolution guidance, During the early morning hours, skies will
clear out and anticipate VFR through the remainder of the
forecast.
KALS...
Passing snow showers with periods of MVFR will be possible this
evening into the early morning hours. Although no heavy snow is
anticipated, light powdery snow may cover the runways. Skies
should clear out prior to sunrise with VFR for the remainder of
the forecast.

snow/rain mix continues to lighten up as a cold front continues to
push through the area. MVFR CIGs will give way to VFR around 02-04z
bringing mild and VFR conditions for the remainder of the TAF
period.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...MVFR CIGs are being observed
across nearly all of our northern UT and southwest WY sites as well
as KCDC, though conditions are expected to improve around 02-04z
following the passage of a cold front. Following this, VFR
conditions will take hold across all sites for the remainder of
the TAF period.

Low cigs and -SN have come to an end at KRKS, and gradual
clearing occurs Sunday evening. The remaining TAF sites will be
VFR through the next 24 hours with mostly clear skies. However,
current MVFR ceilings at KCPR could hang around early Sunday
evening before surface west-southwest wind increases slightly.
There may be a brief push of low cigs/fog at KRIW around
12Z/Monday drifting in from Boysen Reservoir, but still too low
of a probability to note in the TAF. High cirrus begins to pour
back across the state after 20Z/Monday with the approach of the
next winter system. Mountain tops obscured across southern
Wyoming until 03Z/Monday.

Primary aviation concern for the 00Z TAF period will be on and
off snow showers across all terminals. During snow showers,
conditions are expected to deteriorate to IFR conditions as
visibility drops to between 1 and 2SM and ceilings drop to
around 800 to 1000ft AGL. Snow showers will be periodic, with
conditions improving when snow ends and deteriorating when snow
starts up. Gusty winds expected for the next 1 to 3 hours at all
terminals before lighter winds return for the overnight hours.
Once snow showers move out of the region, expect clearing skies
and light winds. Winds pick up again late morning into the early
afternoon hours.

Current VFR conditions over KGLD and KMCK are expected to
decline to MVFR and IFR after 05-09Z for KMCK and 07-09Z for
KGLD as snow moves over the area. Visibility restrictions down
to 2SM is possible for both terminals between 09-12Z due to the
snowfall rate. Current thinking as that snow stops falling over
KGLD between 14-16Z and KMCK from 14-17Z. Both terminals could
see anywhere from a trace to 2" with locally heavier amounts
possible over KGLD should a snowband set up and impact the
terminal. Winds are expected to remain out of the southeast at
5-10 kts before gradually shifting out of the west to become
northwesterly by 21Z Monday afternoon at ~10-15 kts. During the
afternoon hours, gusts to 20 kts will be possible over KGLD and
could lead to some blowing snow already on the ground given the
powdery nature of the snow.

VFR ceilings above 5000 feet AGL will thicken and lower
overnight as moisture and lift improve ahead of an approaching
upper level trough that will cross southwest Kansas during the
day on Monday. Latest BUFR soundings and guidance agree that
ceilings will lower to or below 3000 feet AGL after 06Z Monday
and then continue to fall as light snow develops around or after
09z Monday. The lowest ceilings and steadiest/heaviest snowfall
are expected between 10Z and 15Z Monday. During this time, IFR
conditions (both visibility and ceilings) are likely (>60%
chance) with a chance (30-50%) for ceilings to occasionally fall
below 1000 feet AGL. As this upper wave passes, the snow will
taper off, with even some clearing skies possible in a few areas
late in the day. Winds during this period will primarily be
from the southeast at 10 to 15 knots. The best chance for
accumulating snowfall late tonight and early Monday will be in
the Hays area, where 1 to 3 inches will be possible. The current
snowfall forecast has greater than 1/2 inch at Dodge City, with
lower amounts occurring further south and west.

MVFR cigs have pushed into the eastern plains, but will recede to
the east over the next few hours, likely exiting into the TX
Panhandle by 06Z.
A Pacific front will impact the region during the TAF period,
reaching KFMN around 03Z and reaching KROW by around 15Z. A brief
burst of rain/snow will accompany the front in western and
northern NM, but it will fall apart around 12Z as it moves south
of I-40. A small band of IFR cigs/vis will likely accompany the
frontal passage, with categorical changes generally lasting less
than 3 hours. There is a low chance that a few snow flurries
reach as far south as KAEG and KABQ between 09Z and 12Z, where
there is a 10-20% chance of MVFR cigs developing. Breezy
northwest to north winds will persist through tomorrow afternoon
in the wake of the cold frontal passage.
