Models keep weak downsloping going all night at DIA with no
drainage. With as weak as the west and northwesterly surface wind
progs are for DIA, you wonder if drainage will win out towards
dawn? Models show a normal diurnal wind pattern at DIA for Monday
with weak northeasterlies by late morning. At this time, it looks
doubtful that the downsloping will make it to DIA Monday
afternoon. Will leave it out for now. There will be no ceiling
issues.

For KCOS and KPUB..VFR conditions have developed in the past few
hours, and are expected to persist throughout the rest of the TAF
period. Brisk northerly winds are likely weaken at KCOS through the
next several hours, and have already weakened at KPUB. Winds look to
eventually develop their normal southeasterly components and overcome
the northerlies later this afternoon, generally by 21Z or so at both
stations. Drainage flows look to resume after sunset as usual.
At KALS..IFR ceilings and visibilities in fog have not moved over
station as of this writing, but can be seen very close by on
satellite. Have decided to keep both in the TAF through 16Z given
trends but will monitor closely. VFR conditions are expected through
the remainder of the period once fog clears this morning.

Precipitation has mostly come to an end across the region, with
the exception of a few lingering mountain snow showers. Most of
the cloud coverage is moving out of the region as well, but
overnight some low stratus and or fog may cause TAF site impacts
at KTEX, KDRO, and potentially at other sites that received
precipitation. Mid and high level clouds look to move into the
northern half of the CWA this morning. Winds are expected to be
light.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Persistent MVFR cigs due to a stubborn stratus
deck may break up late this afternoon and evening (60% chance). If
such break up materializes, expect at least a few hours of VFR
conditions into the evening before the next round of fog develops.
Current expectation is that fog will redevelop between 3Z and 6Z,
causing flight categories to dip to at least MVFR if not IFR. That
said, the chance of another thick stratus deck developing is less
than last night, estimated in the 30-50% chance range. Winds
overnight will be light out of the southeast, less than 5 kts.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Valley fog and low clouds are
likely to redevelop tonight, generally for valleys along/west of I-
15 and from around KDTA northward. Stratus formation is not expected
to be as thick and widespread however. Impacted locations could see
flight conditions as low as LIFR. Outside of the fog and low clouds,
expect VFR conditions with only a few high clouds. Winds across the
region will be light.

Timing remains on track for the next weather system late tonight
and Monday. Main impacts initially will be at KJAC, with MVFR
conditions most of the day with low cigs and -SN. Some tempo
snow possible as early as 12Z, but main influence will be in the
23/16Z to 24/00Z timeframe, with improvements through the
evening. The trailing front then sweeps across areas east of the
Divide between 24/00Z and 24/06Z, bringing a wind shift from
the northwest with gusts 25 to 30kts. A brief rain/snow squall
is possible at KCOD/KWRL as the front passes.
Otherwise the main aviation impact for remaining sites will be
the gusty west to southwest winds during the day, with frequent
gusts of 25 to 35kts, which are expected to continue into the
overnight hours Monday night.

A potent storm system will remain south of the area as it lifts
northeast into the central plains tonight. A few showers and lower
CIGS are possible across the southern Nebraska Panhandle, but little
to no impacts are expected elsewhere.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: VFR conditions are forecast to prevail
tonight and Monday with intervals of high clouds. KSNY has the best
chance to see some light rain and lowering CIGS between 06z and 10z,
but MVFR or lower conditions appear unlikely (<20% chance and
falling). West winds are forecast to increase after 16z Monday
across the southeast Wyoming terminals with gusts of 30 to 35 knots.

An expanse of stratus continues to track north across southwest
Nebraska this evening, along with light rain showers. Conditions are
beginning to decrease from VFR to MVFR across southwest Nebraska,

hours, largely driven by lower ceilings. Latest forecast guidance
has continued to mix in drier air, lessening precipitation expanse,
as well as limiting fog potential. Still believe that recent
rainfall and light winds will allow for some patchy fog development,
especially across southwest Nebraska. By late morning conditions are
expected to return to MVFR, with VFR conditions by the afternoon
across southwest Nebraska. Further to the north, drier air will
limit precipitation and low ceiling potential, with VFR conditions
expected to prevail throughout the TAF period.

For KGLD... Ceilings around 200-400ft and visibility between 1/4
and 2SM are forecast through 15Z as low level moisture has
moved in over the terminal. There is a chance that conditions
may briefly improve as some rain showers are trying to form
southwest of the terminal in the wrap around portion of the low.
If the showers move over, they could improve visibility to
around 4-7SM and lift ceilings to around 500-1000ft. Otherwise,
conditions are not forecast to improve until around 15Z as very
slow daytime heating begins to dissipate the fog, and then lift
and break apart the cloud cover. Conditions are forecast to be
VFR around 21-00Z as the low shifts east. From then, the next
concern will be increasing winds with a front that could provide
low level wind shear. However, this is currently forecast to
occur after 06Z Tuesday.
For KMCK... Ceilings are forecast to lower slowly through the
first few hours of the period as more low level moisture pulls
in from the south and with the showers clear of the terminal.
They are forecast to bottom out around 200-400ft by 09Z. As the
low ceilings set up, fog is also forecast to form with
visibility initially around 3-5SM, but potentially lowering to
around 1/2SM closer top 12-15Z. As temperatures slowly warm
through the day, the fog should burn off during the morning, and
then ceilings lift through the afternoon. Around 00Z, ceilings
should lift above 3000ft and allow for VFR conditions. This
evening, a front is forecast to move through and increase winds
from the northwest. There is a chance that low level wind shear
could develop around 200-500ft with speeds around 40-50 kts
between 03-06Z.

Nighttime microphysics satellite imagery and surface
observations at 0440z depicted widespread IFR/LIFR stratus
across all of SW KS. Surface visibility was only modestly
reduced by BR/FG at times. Degraded flight categories in
IFR/LIFR stratus will persist through 18z Mon, but kept
visibility restrictions in BR/FG at 2-4 sm for now. Will monitor
for fog development, with much higher confidence on the
persistent stratus. Stratus will be stubborn to erode/lift
Monday, with ceilings slowly climbing back to MVFR after
18z Mon. Finally, VFR/SKC is expected to return to all airports
after 00z Tue. Winds will remain light, less than 12 kts,
through this TAF period, variable in direction.

the Panhandles. The fog and low clouds will clear out near sunrise
for KDHT and KAMA, but may linger at KGUY through the morning. VFR
conditions are expected once low clouds and fog clear out. Winds
will begin out of the south but will become northwesterly with
gusts upwards of 25-30 kts at all sites. Winds should decrease by
sunset but remain out of the west to northwest.

IFR conditions are forecast to develop later tonight, around
09-10Z, at KFMN and KGUP, with moderate confidence. IR satellite
imagery shows higher clouds gradually thinning/clearing north of
KFMN. Once this clearing moves in, light westerly upslope flow
should lead to low clouds and fog/mist. Guidance has been
inconsistent with density of fog, as well as preferred locations
and whether stratus will lower all the way to the surface;
otherwise, confidence would have been higher. Elsewhere, VFR is
expected to prevail with light-moderate breezes as the weekend
storm system continues to move away to the northeast, over CO.
KSAF could see a brief MVFR deck overnight, but confidence is low-
moderate. Short-term guidance has been consistently developing
LLWS over KLVS tonight, once surface winds slacken to below 10
knots, so have included it in the TAF. Less confident on any
duration of LLWS at KTCC and KROW.
