Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1150 AM CDT, At 11:45 AM CDT, emergency management continues to report flooding in the warned area. Numerous roads and subdivisions remain underwater. Between 10 and 20 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Harlingen, San Benito, Mercedes, La Feria, Progreso, Santa Rosa, Rio Hondo, Palm Valley, Los Indios, Laureles, La Paloma, Rangerville, Arroyo City, Santa Maria, Brownsville, Primera, Combes, Rio Hondo City Hall, Rio Hondo Junior High School and Rio Hondo Elementary School. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
