.DISCUSSION...
Dry weather continues through tonight. Minimum relative humidity
values will bottom out in the 30-40% range today for most areas,
with potentially near critical values in the wider valleys, but
with decent recovery tonight. Winds through today will remain on
the calm side with variable flow limiting fire concerns. A few
isolated showers, an isolated rumble of thunder, and potentially
a rare dry thunderstorm, are possible across the Adirondacks and
northern Greens this afternoon. Rain moves in from west to east
Thursday and Thursday night, reaching the St. Lawrence Valley in
the early afternoon and Vermont in the evening. A wetting rain is
expected in most areas.
However, there will be gusty southerly winds late tonight through
tomorrow. Most areas will see 15-25 mph gusts, but they will be
locally higher in the Champlain Valley and northern Adirondacks.
These winds will begin before the rain arrives, and combined with
forecast relative humidity values of 30-40 percent in most areas,
there will be some fire weather concerns.
