...Gusty North Winds and Dry Conditions Thursday...
.DISCUSSION...
Drier air with abundant sunshine has returned to the region this
afternoon as relative humidities have dropped into the upper 30 to
mid 40 percent range as winds gust as high as 25 MPH in the the
Champlain Valley and central Vermont. Given further drying and
longer term extreme drought conditions, somewhat stronger peak
wind gusts above 25 MPH on Thursday will support fire weather
concerns, especially where a Special Weather Statement has been
issued. Terrain-driven convergence of low level north-northwest
winds favor strongest winds in the corridor from near Panton to
Castleton, Vermont, where frequent gusts will likely exceed 30
MPH.
