...The Frost-Freeze Program for Central Vermont and the St.
Lawrence Valley in NY has ended...

The 2025 Fall Frost-Freeze program for Central Vermont and the St.
Lawrence Valley in NY has ended. This means that Frost or Freeze
headlines will no longer be issued for this region for the
2025 season. These regions join the already ended season in the
Adirondacks and Northeast Vermont, which ended on Oct 1.

However, it is strongly urged to follow local forecasts and take
preventative actions from a frost or freeze when temperatures are
forecasted to be in the mid to upper 30s or colder.

The Frost-Freeze program of the National Weather Service is to
warn local growers and gardeners of the potential of a damaging
frost or freeze for a given area during the climatologically
defined growing season. This allows people to take preventative
measures for plants and crops against potential damaging
temperatures.

The climatologically defined growing season is the period between
the median date of the last Spring freeze and the 75-90th
percentile of the first Fall freeze.

These are the dates in which NWS frost advisories or freeze
warnings would no longer be issued for the 2025 growing season in
VT and northern NY.

October 1st: Northeast Vermont and the Adirondacks of NY.

October 11th: the St. Lawrence River Valley of NY and the
remainder of VT, except the Champlain Valley.

October 21st: the Champlain Valley of VT/NY .
