...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

Lake effect snow has diminished, therefore the Winter Weather
Advisory has been cancelled. Bands of lake effect snow will continue
today with additional localized accumulations under 2 inches. Gusty
winds will create localized blowing snow.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 1 to 3 feet.
  Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will create blowing and drifting
  snow and whiteout conditions.

* WHERE...Wayne and Northern Cayuga Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected making travel very
  difficult at times today. The hazardous conditions from lake
  effect snow will continue to impact travel through the week.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snowfall and strongest winds
  expected today through this evening with lingering lake snows
  continuing through mid-week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Widespread accumulating snow will create dangerous travel conditions.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 4 feet.
  Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will create blowing and drifting
  snow along with whiteout conditions at times.

* WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. Greatest snow
  accumulation expected south of Watertown and Fort Drum.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected to continue today and
  will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening.
  Travel will remain very difficult with hazardous conditions from
  lake effect snow continuing to impact travel through the week.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is expected oscillate
  several times downwind of Lake Ontario this week. Forecast
  snowfall amounts could be much higher where lake bands persist
  during this long duration event.

  drifting snow and occasional whiteout conditions.

* WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie
  Counties.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions with snow and blowing snow are
  expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially
  life-threatening through today. Travel will remain very difficult
  with hazardous conditions from lake effect snow continuing to
  impact travel through the week.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is expected oscillate
  several times downwind of Lake Erie this week. Forecast snowfall
  amounts could be much higher where lake bands persist during this
  long duration event.

  inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as
  45 mph will create blowing and drifting snow and occasional
  whiteout conditions.

* WHERE...Allegany County. The highest amounts across north and west
  portions of the county.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
  will impact travel through Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Forecast snowfall amounts could be higher
  where lake bands persist during this long duration event.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling,
be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
