MONDAY...
...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, freezing rain expected.
  Total ice accumulations around a tenth or two on the Tug Hill
  Plateau, and up to a third of an inch through the Saint Lawrence
  Valley. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy lake effect snow
  possible. Total snow accumulations over 7 inches possible in the
  most persistent lake snows. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph
  creating blowing and drifting snow and greatly reducing
  visibilities.

* WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. Greatest snow
  accumulation expected south of Watertown and Fort Drum.

* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 4 PM Sunday to 10 AM
  EST Monday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Monday afternoon
  through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.
  Travel will be very difficult in deep snow covered roads beginning
  Monday afternoon. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday
  morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is expected oscillate
  several times downwind of Lake Ontario for this long duration
  event.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery
roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while
driving.

Submit snow and ice reports through our website or social media.

Narrow bands of heavy snow could bring rapidly changing road
conditions and visibilities. Localized travel problems will be
possible.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations
  over 7 inches possible.
  Winds could gust as high as 60 mph creating blowing and drifting
  snow along with reducing visibilities to near whiteout at times.

* WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie
  Counties.

* WHEN...From Monday afternoon through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult in deep snow covered
  roads and poor visibilities. The hazardous conditions could impact
  the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is expected oscillate
  several times east of Lake Erie through the region for this long
  duration event.
