Warm and dry conditions Today, with periods of gusty (25 to 45 mph) west to southwest winds along the western foothills this morning, decreasing in the afternoon. Monday is a transition day with a strong cold front now arriving in the afternoon, allowing temperatures once again into the upper 40s to mid 50s ahead of the front. Winds will increase out of the west to northwest with the cold front, reaching 30 to 45 mph across the district, along with a 30 to 60 percent chances for light rain/snow along with an isolated thunderstorm. Wetting rain chances remain low with this system. Behind the front unsettled and seasonably cool conditions are expected for the rest of the holiday week. There is a 20-40% chance for light rain/snow Wednesday through Friday through this period. The first significant snowfall of the season is starting to take shape in the models for next weekend with the arrival of even colder air. How much snow and how cold temperatures will get are still very uncertain, so stay tuned to the forecast this week for more details.
