A cold front will cross over all districts late this morning through the afternoon, shifting winds to the west to northwest and bringing a line of rain/snow showers with it. There is also a small chance for thunderstorms to occur with the frontal passage. Winds during and behind the front will gust 25 to 55 mph, with higher gusts occurring west of Billings around Harlowton and Big Timber, and across far southeast MT. Behind the front brings about the first elongated shot of cooler and wetter conditions we`ve seen all fall. The second half of the week will see light precipitation (likely all snow) occurring each day, with a potentially larger system swinging through over the weekend dropping temperatures even more. Still much uncertainty with the weekend system, but confidence is high for conditions to remain cooler and wetter for this weekend.
