...Heat in Northern Maine on October 6th and 7th...

Several high temperature records were broken in Northern Maine
this week.

In Caribou, the monthly high temperature record for October was
broken on October 6th, at 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The previous
monthly record was October 6th 2011, at 82 degrees. The previous
daily record high was 74 degrees in 1946.

The daily record for October 7th in Caribou was also broken, at
81 degrees. The previous record was 76 in 2016. Additionally, this
has been the warmest 3 day stretch (October 5th-October 7th) for
Caribou on record, with an average maximum temperature of 81.7.
Caribou records date back to 1939.

In Houlton, the monthly high temperature record for October was
also broken on October 6th, at 84 degrees. The previous monthly
record was 82 degrees on October 9th, 2011 and October 9th, 1970.
This was also the daily high record for Houlton, with the previous
record for October 6th being 80 degrees in 1946.

The daily record for October 7th in Houlton was also broken at 82
degrees. The previous record was 76 degrees in 2016. This was
also the warmest 3 day stretch (October 5th-October 7th) for
Houlton, with an average maximum temperature of 81.7. Houlton
records date back to 1948.

In Millinocket, the monthly high temperature record for October
was broken on October 6th at 85 degrees. The previous record was
83 degrees, on October 18th, 1947. This was also the daily record
for October 6th, with the last record value being 82 in 1946.

The daily record on October 7th in Millinocket was also reached,
at 82 degrees. The previous record was 81 degrees in 1946. This is
only the 4th warmest maximum 2-day stretch (October 6th-October
7th) for a maximum temperature around 83.5 degrees. The third
warmest (1909) was 84 degrees, second warmest (1930) was 85, and
first warmest (1930) was 86 degrees. Millinocket data dates back
to 1903.

In Bangor, a daily max temperature record for October 6th was
broken, as they reached 84 degrees. The previous record was 76
degrees in 1974. This was the 3rd hottest recorded October
temperature on record, tied with three other days (2011,1979, and
1968). October 16th (85) and 17th (84), 1968 were the first and
second hottest October days on record, respectively.

No daily max temperature records were broken on October 7th. Bangor
records date back to 1925.
