.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 120 PM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026

Moisture will remain below normal through at least Monday as a ridge
meanders over the south to southwest CONUS, continuing hot and rain-
free conditions across South Texas. Low-level moisture increases a
tad beyond Monday of next week, adding an isolated shower threat
along the seabreeze but the overall messaging won`t change. Heat
will remain our primary concern with heat indices peaking around 110
and UIL WBGT risk moderate to high daily. Max temperatures in the
low 90s along the coast to the triple digits inland with minimum
temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Elevated fire weather
conditions over the Brush Country is our secondary concern but winds
remaining relatively light below 20 mph limits the risk factor.

Continue to practice heat safety: look before you lock, limit
outdoor exposure, drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 120 PM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026

VFR conditions prevail across South Texas this afternoon with
limited cumulus development and more upper-level cirrus. Winds
will be out of the south to southeast at a sustained 10-15 knots
with gusts around 20 knots this afternoon into early evening.
Winds diminish tonight, posing a fog and MVFR-ceiling threat over
the inland Coastal Plains from ALI to VCT between 10-15Z. VFR
conditions return by the end of the forecast with light winds.

.MARINE...
Issued at 120 PM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026

Light to moderate (BF 2-4) onshore breezes will continue through the
period, with occasional fresh (BF 5) breezes possible during the
late afternoon/evening hours, especially south of Port Aransas. Seas
are expected to remain around 2-3 feet. Rain chances will remain
near zero into next week.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 122 AM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026

The potential for elevated fire weather conditions over the Brush
Country and portions of the western Coastal Plains are expected to
continue into next week, with relative humidity values dropping into
mid 20s each afternoon. With ERC values in the 75-89th percentile,
low humidity, dry to critically dry fuels, and hot temperatures, a
few locations across the Brush Country could even see critical fire
weather conditions today into next week.
